The #1 of all the NFL Football draft picks, Mario Williams rookie preview! |
Number 1 Pick: Houston Texans - Mario Williams (DE, North Carolina State)
The Houston Texans shocked everyone in the 2006 NFL Football Draft by selecting Mario Williams as the 1st overall of all the picks; passing up on Heisman Trophy winner Reggie Bush. However, selecting the 6-7, 295 specimen 1st overall should not come as much of a surprise of the picks. The Texans believe that a dominant pass rusher at Defensive End is the single most important component to a championship-caliber NFL Football defense, and it is very obvious that they want to build their franchise around their defense. Williams is lightening quick and has great speed. The scary thing is he is still a long way from reaching his full potential. Some of the knocks on Mario Williams as a #1 of all the 2006 NFL Football picks at Defensive End are that he is inconsistent at times and is rumored to take a few plays off.
