Info and preview on Donte Whitner, the number 8 of the draft picks |
Number 8 Pick: Buffalo Bills – Donte Whitner (S, Ohio State)
The Buffalo Bills are getting a great addition to their aging secondary in the National Football League with the pick-up of Donte Whitner. While many thought they took him a little higher than he may have deserved, it is obvious that the Bills feel a solid secondary is a vital component to rebuilding their team. The 5-10, 204 pound Junior Safety out of Ohio State should make an instant impact at the safety position in the NFL. He has excellent speed and quickness and can cover a lot of range as a Safetly in. Whitner is always around the ball and rarely misses a tackle. He also has great hands and will be sure to come up with a lot of interceptions. Some of the concerns about Whitner as the number 8 of the football picks in the 2006 draft are that he is a bit undersized and that he may not have a true position in the NFL.
