2006 Philadelphia Eagles Preview

The Philadelphia Eagles, who were the biggest disappointment in the NFL last year, look to get healthy and compete for another NFC East Title in 2006. It seems like just yesterday the Eagles were a lock to win the NFC East, but this year they are the only team in the East that it seems as nobody is talking about to win. With the Redskins, Giants and Cowboys making so many blockbuster moves in the off-season, it seems as the only thing the Eagles did was rest up and hope to get healthy. However, an entire off-season may be just what this bunch needs to get back to the top. Giving McNabb a chance to rest and once again be the soul vocal leader of a united group may give the Philadelphia faithful a chance to be excited again. Also, his young receiver Reggie Brown gaining another year of maturity will be vital to the passing game. Brown improved greatly towards the end of last year and undoubtedly has the athletic ability to be a go to guy. Along with Reggie Brown, LJ Smith and Brian Westbrook will also have to step their games up mightily. The Eagles lack a soul dominant player on offense, and if they do not get consistency from all three of their go-to guys, their offense will struggle once again. And the Eagles defense, which is known for its swarming dominance, also struggled mightily last season, ranking in the bottom of the NFL in many categories. By the end of the season, however, the Eagles had only half of their starters in the line-up. Therefore, if the Eagles can stay healthy in 2006, they may sneak up on a lot of teams and once again reach the post season.
