2008 Arizona Cardinals Preview

      The Arizona Cardinals are team that likely may have been a playoff team in 2008 hadn't not been for tough beats here & there throughout the season. Second year coach, Ken Whisenhunt brings back a high powered offense in 2008. Matt Leinart has been named the starting quarterback again for the 2008 season. Will this finally be the year that Leinart steps up his game and becomes the highly touted talent that he was before he was drafted in the first round of 2006 NFL Football draft? The Cardinals still have high powered wideouts in Anquan Boldin and Larry Fitzgerald who may be two of the top 5 or 10 in the NFL. The Cards defense needs some serious improvement, particularly in the secondary if they want to finally become a playoff team for the first time in 10 years..

      In the 2008 NFL Draft, the Arizona Cardinals were extremely fortunate when the talented Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie fell in their lap at No. 16. Rashard Mendenhall was also an option with their first round pick, but with a dire need for a cornerback to add to the 2008 roster, they couldn't let Cromartie get away. Early Doucet was another fantastic pick in the third round and should be another exciting rookie to watch in 2008..

      The Cardinals are still looking for all those young talented players to finally break out of their shells, but this team also has some very difficult games at the start and at the end of their 2008-09 schedule. The Arizona Cardinals have away games scheduled in three of their first four games including games @ San Francisco, @ Washington and @ N.Y. Jets. Later on down the Cardinals 2008 schedule, they will have to take a trip to face Tom Brady and the away tough New England Patriots before finishing up at home vs. the 2007 NFC West Champion Seahawks.
