Bankroll Sports columnists have provided an NFL football team preview on the 2008 Atlanta Falcons. Read for information on what to expect from the Falcons for the upcoming 2008 NFL Football Picks season. |
The very first season of the post-Michael Vick era in Atlanta was a big-time disaster to say the least. Will next year's campaign be any different for the 08' Falcons? This team may improve, but they still have a good amount of work to do. The Falcons have offically put the shadow of Michael Vick behind them when they drafted Boston College quarterback Matt Ryan with the third overall selection in the 2008 NFL Draft. Then, the Falcons hopped back into the opening round to protect his weak side by adding offensive lineman Sam Baker out of USC.
It looks evident that owner Arthur Blank and company have made the decision to being the rebuilding process. New head coach, Mike Smith will probably decide against feeding Rookie QB Matt Ryan to the wolves in his rookie year. However, Ryan will eventually see some playing time, particularly if thing being to develop as they has last year. Atlanta axed the only offensive Pro Bowlers on their roster this offseason in running backs Warrick Dunn and Alge Crumpler. They also decided to trade selfish DeAngelo Hall to the Raiders as they couldn't take anymore of his whining. They have also made some nice additions via free agency by adding talented running back Michael Turner who will finally get to show the league what he can do. Sevety-Five year old, Morten Anderson hands the kicking duties over to Jason Elam. The Falcons beefed up the defensive backfield by adding Erik Coleman and Von Hutchins.
In regards to the 2008 Atlanta Falcons schedule, they close out the 2008 NFL season with away matchups @ San Diego, @ New Orleans, & @ Minnesota in weeks 13, 14, & 16. This team is not expected to win any more then 5 or 6 games in the improving NFC West this season, but it appears that they are on the right track. This Falcons team also may suprise some people in 2008.
