Bankroll Sports columnists have provided an NFL football team preview on the 2008 Cleveland Browns. Read for information on what to expect from the Browns for the upcoming 2008 NFL Football Picks season. |
The 2007 Cleveland Browns were the surprise of the NFL last year. They came within inches of making the playoffs under the improved play of Derek Anderson. Even as Anderson remains the starting quarterback, Brady Quinn is waiting to get his chance to run the offense. This might put uncalled for pressure on Anderson as one bad game could create a quarterback controversy in the media.
The Browns offense was able to move the football down the field last year and should be able to do the same this year. Look for an other good season from running back Jamal Lewis, who is looking to prove that last year’s turnaround was no fluke. Joe Thomas will have one year of NFL experience under his belt at tackle. The Browns will always be a threat to stay in games because of wide receiver Braylon Edwards. They also have a strong return game with Josh Cribbs. That should be the deciding factor in at least one game this year. The Browns looked to shore up their defense with the drafting of Beau Bell out of UNLV. Bell is an athletic linebacker who is a tackling and interception threat.
The Browns have a good enough offense to keep them in games, but their defense remains a weak spot. Their schedule isn’t easy, with eight games against playoff teams. They start off the season against Dallas and Pittsburgh, so everyone will be watching how quarterback Derek Anderson performs.
