Bankroll Sports columnists have provided an NFL football team preview on the 2008 Miami Dolphins. Read for information on what to expect from the Dolphins for the upcoming 2008 NFL Football Picks season. |
Miami is focused on building a good football franchise for well into the future. The first step was to bring in Bill Parcells who got to work right away. He has done well to start the Dolphins on the track to rebuilding a competitive team. The turnaround won’t be quick. The Dolphins look to have another tough year in 2008.
The Dolphins skipped over the quarterback position with the first pick in the draft and went right for improving their offensive line with Jake Long out of Michigan. Long is the one of the best offensive linemen to ever come out of Michigan and will make an immediate impact for the Dolphins. Quarterback John Beck is facing a critical second season where he has to prove he is fit to be a starter in the NFL. His main competition for the starting job may be rookie Chad Henne. The quarterback position is so critical for Miami, so they also brought in Josh McCown to vie for the starting position. The Dolphins also shored up their defense in the draft by acquiring Philip Merling and Kendall Langford, both valuable later round picks. This is a new look team, with a lot of new faces. Dolphin veterans Jason Taylor and Zach Thomas are no longer in Miami.
Your room for improvement is great when your record in 2007 included 15 losses. However, the Dolphins aren’t helped by their schedule which ends in a brutal fashion with five road games. Include the fact that the Dolphins play the Patriots twice and 2008 can be another long suffering year for South Florida football fans. Look for the Dolphins to improve slightly over their disaster in 2007.
