Bankroll Sports columnists have provided an NFL football team preview on the 2008 Oakland Raiders. Read for information on what to expect from the Raiders for the upcoming 2008 NFL Football Picks season. |
The Raiders have been stuck in a bad rut ever since they lost the Super Bowl to Tampa Bay. The Raiders don’t have any stand out players, despite picking have JaMarcus Russell. The backfield is young, but talented. They chose Darren McFadden as the fourth draft pick overall. McFadden, Fargas, and Russell are young but have tremendous potential. The problem lies in the fact that Russell has no real go to wide receiver. Zach Miller is a good tight end, but the Raiders need a wide receiver to step up.
Al Davis was busy during the off-season signing Tommy Kelly, Javon Walker and DeAngelo Hall to big contracts. Javon Walker will help bring experience to the wide receiver corps and may prove to be a good target for Russell. Hall and Kelly will bring good experience to the defense, but it remains to be seen if the big contracts will be worth it.
Darren McFadden will add to an already good backfield. Justin Fargas is coming off of a good season where he gained over 1,000 yards and should get better. This combination can prove to be the cornerstone for the Raiders. If JaMarcus Russell lives up to his potential, the Raiders will win some games. The defense will have to remain steady. Warren Sapp retired, but Al Davis’ off season moves have bulked up an already decent defense.
The Raiders are under pressure to win. Fans of the silver and black don’t want to go through another disaster of a year. The AFC West remains a tough division and three division games in September will show the rest of the NFL where the Oakland Raiders are at as a football team.
