Bankroll Sports columnists have provided an NFL football team preview on the 2008 San Francisco 49ers. Read for information on what to expect from the 49ers for the upcoming 2008 NFL Football Picks season. |
The 2007 San Francisco 49ers looked to have a great season last year and they seemed to go backwards from the start. There is no question that Alex Smith or some quarterback must step up and become a leader of this team in order for them to be effective in 2008. The Niners went out got some nice free agents which includes Issac Bruce from the Rams & Bryant Johnson from the Cardinals in order to give Smith some quality receivers to throw the ball to. Frank Gore remains the starting tailback and looks to bounce back after what was a let down from his 2006 season. Rookie Pro Bowler Patrick Willis returns as the leader of what looks to be a scary defense this season. Can Willis possibly get anymore then the impressive 174 total tackles he had last season?
In the 2008 NFL Draft, San Francisco's first three selections were flawless. Nobody seemed to think Kentwan Balmer would make it to 29th overall, but the 49ers didn't waste much time once they saw that he was on the board. He's a major upgrade for a defensive front that needed work.
The 1008 49ers have their bye week after their eighth game of the 2008 NFL Football season. They'll have a difficult time getting to that bye week with a winning record.. San Francisco's five games before the bye week are against New Orleans (home), New England (home), Philadelphia (home), Giants (away), and Seattle (home). No easy task for Mike Nolan who just may be on the hot seat.
