This week’s Sunday Night NFL Football match-up will be a rematch of last year’s AFC Divisional Playoffs between the Denver Broncos and the New England Patriots in an AFC NFL Football game. The Patriots hope that the outcome is different this year, as they controlled almost the entire game with yardage but were forced into five turnovers and were ousted from the playoffs. Denver successfully ended the two year Super Bowl run of the Patriots; New England would love nothing more than to give them their payback Sunday Night in Foxboro.
The Patriots come into this game with a 2-0 mark, both against AFC East opponents. While both games may have been closer than expected, New England was able to win both of them with solid defense and enough big plays. Denver comes into the match-up with a 1-1 mark, but by the chatter in Denver you’d think they were in the basement of the West. Many in Denver have been calling for Jake Plummer’s job, hoping to see the up and coming rookie Jay Cutler.
Mike Shanahan has asked Plummer what he asks of all of his quarterbacks: to hang on to the football. While the offense has not put many points on the board, they did do a good job of holding on to the ball against Kansas City, winning the game 9-6 in overtime. The Broncos’ recipe for success has been simple, run an efficient offense and let their defense win the game. And with one of the best secondaries in the National Football League, who can argue? However, Plummer has led the Broncos to just one touchdown in two games, and against a great NFL football picks team like the Patriots, this will not be enough. If Denver wants to have any shot at winning this game Shanahan will have to be more aggressive with his play calling and not just count on Tatum and Mike Bell to grind the clock.
The New England Pariots, on the other hand, comes into this game with no questions what-so-ever about the quarterback position. Tom Brady is arguably the best in the game, and while he does not have the weapons this year that he did in years past, the offense is always a threat. The two-headed monster of Corey Dillon and Laurence Maroney have been sensational, wearing down defenses and controlling the clock. The rushing-attack is very important, as New England is working with a depleted receiving core after Deion Branch left for Seattle. Troy Brown, Ben Watson, and Daniel Graham will be looked upon to pick up the slack.

The Broncos would love for nothing more than to make this game as short as possible, allowing their rushing attack to win the game. If they can run the ball effectively, it will force New England to pack more in the box, allowing Plummer to go over the top and possibly hit a big play. If Plummer can hit one or two big plays, Denver will then be able to continue running the ball and let their defense win the game. New England’s guide to victory is simple: Tom Brady. If Brady plays up to his capabilities, they will win the game. Last year, the New England Patriots controlled the NFL Football game but Brady made a couple of big mistakes, including throwing an interception to Champ Bailey which got returned 100 yards for a touchdown and denver was the winner of that NFL football pick. Both teams come into this game with very different game plans, and whoever’s game plan is more effective will win the football game. If Denver can rush the football, controlling the clock and allow there defense to win it, they will have a chance. However, if New England is able to stop the run, and Denver’s defense fails to get pressure on Tom Brady, the Patriots may run away with this one
