Yes, thirteen weeks of college football have now gone by in the 2013 season.  Week 14 of the NCAA  football season is underway and one more undefeated BCS contender went down last week. Week 14 offers plenty of key conference match-ups in the PAC-12, Big Ten, and SEC conferences. The marquee matchup of Thanksgiving weekend is clearly the Iron Bowl between undefeated #1 Alabama who will take on the one-loss, fourth-ranked Auburn Tigers who are coming of a few big SEC wins.  Be sure to check out the 2013 Iron Bowl odds below and make sure to look at the 2013 Thanksgiving day NFL odds on our blog.

Thursday Thanksgiving Day NCAA Football Lines For 11/28/13

Texas Tech at Texas (-4) 7:30pm EST – FOX Sports 1

Two intrastate rivals meet in Austin as the Texas Longhorns take host the Texas Tech Red Raiders in a Big 12 conference tilt on Thanksgiving night. Texas Tech comes into this matchup on a four game losing streak, last losing to Baylor 63-34. Texas has turned their season around after starting 1-2, yet lost their last contest to Oklahoma State 38-13.

Friday Week 14 College Football Lines For 11/29/13

#13 Oregon (NL) at Oregon State 7:00pm EST – FOX Sports 1

Autzen Stadium will certainly be rockin as Oregon and Oregon State battle in the ‘Civil War’ in Eugene. Oregon saw its BCS hopes go by the wayside last week as they fell down in defeat last week at Arizona. The outcome was much worse for Oregon St, as they got pummeled at home by Washington 69-27.

Saturday Week 13 College Football Odds For 11/29/13

#2 Florida State (NL) at Florida 12:00pm EST – ESPN

Florida State will try to continue their run to the BCS championship as they travel to the swamp to take on the Florida Gators. It was business as usual for the Seminoles last week as they crushed Idaho 80-14. It’s been a long season in Gainesville, Florida’s disappointing season continued last week as they were upset by Georgia Southern 26-20.

#3 Ohio State (-12) at Michigan 12:00pm EST – ABC

The Ohio State Buckeyes will try to keep their BCS hopes alive as they travel to the big house for the 109th chapter of ‘The Game’. Undefeated Ohio State was victorious once again beating Indiana 42-14. Michigan has lost three out of their last four, losing at Iowa last week 24-21.

#1 Alabama (-10) at #4 Auburn 3:30pm EST – CBS

This year’s edition of the ‘Iron Bowl’ will have some serious BCS implications as the #1 Alabama Crimson Tide takes on the #4 Auburn Tigers. Auburn is coming off a miraculous victory over Georgia 43-38. Alabama took care of business in a “scrimmage” last week, shutting out Chattanooga 49-0. Should Auburn pull the upset, they will most likely leap over Ohio State in the BCS standings. We are about to find out in a few days if it’s “War Eagle” or “War Hubris”. The 2013 Iron Bowl Odds have Auburn listed as 10 point dogs at home to the powerhouse Crimson Tide. Do you think Auburn has a legitimate outside shot at beating #1 Alabama and winning the BCS title? Be sure to check out their current odds to win the BCS National Championship as well as some of the other undefeated and one-loss squads

#6 Clemson at #10 South Carolina (-5) 7:00pm EST – ESPN2

It will be an intrastate battle of top 10 teams as #6 Clemson will face #10 South Carolina. Clemson was impressive in their last outing, downing Citadel 52-6. South Carolina beat an outmatched Coastal Carolina team 70-10. South Carolina won last year’s contest 27-17.

#25 Notre Dame at #8 Stanford (-14) 7:00pm EST – FOX

The Notre Dame Fighting Irish will travel to Palo Alto to take on Stanford in a battle for the Legends Trophy. Stanford got back on track last week after their BCS championship hopes were dashed losing to USC, beating California 63-13. Notre Dame jumped back into the top 25 after beating BYU 23-13. Notre Dame won last years contest 20-13 in overtime.

#21 Texas A&M (-16) at #5 Missouri 7:00pm EST – ESPN

Missouri will try to clinch their first berth in the SEC championship as they host the Texas A&M Aggies. Missouri took care of business last week, getting a road victory at Ole Miss 24-10. The Aggies were dominated last week, losing to LSU for the second consecutive year 34-10.

#22 UCLA at #23 USC (-4) 8:00pm EST – ABC

Cross-town rivals UCLA and USC will meet on Saturday night at the Coliseum in Los Angeles. UCLA lost the PAC-12 South division title last week to Arizona State 38-33. USC will be looking to win their sixth straight game and will also be looking to avenge a 38-28 defeat at the hands of the Bruins last year. This is the first time since 2010 that this rivalry game will not have major bowl implications.

Arizona at #12 Arizona State (-11.5) 9:30pm EST – PAC-12 Network

Arizona State will look to notch their seventh straight win as they host intrastate rival Arizona. Both teams are coming off upset victories. Arizona State locked up a PAC-12 title berth at UCLA last week defeating the Bruins 38-33. Arizona pulled off the monumental upset, defeating then #5 ranked Oregon 42-16. The Sun Devils won last years meeting 41-34.

There is a heck of a lot that has been made out of the game on the Week 3 college football schedule between the Alabama Crimson Tide and the Texas A&M Aggies. Today, we’re going to be breaking down some of the college football props for what should be one of the very best games of the season here in the SEC.

All Alabama vs. Texas A&M Prop Bets Are Courtesy of Bovada Sportsbook

AJ McCarron Passing Yards Over/Under 235.5 – Last season, McCarron threw the rock for 309 yards in the game against A&M, though without a 54-yard touchdown pass to WR Amari Cooper, it’s anyone’s guess as to what would have happened. A&M’s defense has been shoddy thus far this season, and though the passing yards really aren’t there, teams are averaging 6.79 yards per pass attempt. Heck, Sam Houston State averaged nearly 10 yards per attempt just last week. McCarron didn’t look good in his first game of the season, going just 10-of-23 for 110 yards with a TD and a pick, but he is probably going to have to do a lot more offensively in this game to succeed. Remember that last season, the junior threw for an average of just 209.5 pass yards per game, but there were a few examples when he really had to, that he threw for over 250 yards, including when he went off for 264 yards in the National Championship Game against Notre Dame. It’s going to be an interesting one, but we think behind a sometimes shaky looking offensive line, McCarron is going to get to this number. AJ McCarron Over 235.5 Passing Yards (-115)

Bovada BonusAJ McCarron Over/Under 2.5 Touchdowns + Interceptions: Though we do tend to think that there are going to be some yards thrown for in this game, we aren’t so sure what the oddsmakers are thinking by planning on McCarron scoring a combination of at least three TDs and INTs in this game. The senior was only picked off three times all of last season, and two of those came against the Aggies. Think that he is going to be making those mistakes again? We certainly think not. McCarron did make it past this 2.5 TDs + INTs six times last season in 14 games, but we just don’t know if this is going to be one of those examples where that happens. The oddsmakers are blowing this up. RB TJ Yeldon might get to three scores, but we aren’t so sure that McCarron will. AJ McCarron Under 2.5 Touchdowns + Interceptions (-110)

TJ Yeldon Over/Under 104.5 Rushing Yards: Again, we have some major questions that we have to ask about the Texas A&M defense. The team allowed Sam Houston State to rush for 240 yards on the ground last week, and it gave up 306 yards to Rice. And the oddsmakers think that the Tide are going to end up with less than 200 yards on the ground? Asking Yeldon to carry half the load isn’t all that unfair by any stretch of the imagination, and we think that he is going to get the job done with flying colors. In fact, with RB Eddie Lacy out of the way, we wouldn’t be all that shocked if Yeldon managed to double this rushing total in this game if the Aggies are going to struggle this badly up front along the defensive line. Alabama’s offensive line isn’t nearly as good as it was last season, but it isn’t going to have to be against a much weaker Texas A&M defensive line to boot. TJ Yeldon Over 104.5 Rushing Yards (-115)

Johnny Manziel Over/Under 93.5 Rushing Yards: Wow that’s a darn big number! Manziel was great last season, accounting for 92 yards on the ground, but we can’t imagine that he is going to flirt with triple digits again this year. Remember that sacks count against his rushing total, and now the Tide know just how fast he is to the outside when he gets on the loose. Manziel simply has to play a more contained version of his game from last season, and accounting for all those rushing yards is going to be really tough against a team that isn’t going to allow 93.5 rushing yards per game on average this season, let alone to just one quarterback. Johnny Manziel Under 93.5 Rushing Yards (-115)

Johnny Manziel Rushing + Passing Yards in 2013 (-27.5) vs. Johnny Manziel Rushing + Passing Yards in 2012 (+27.5): Essentially, that puts the over/under at the total number of yards that Johnny Football is going to come up with in this game at 372.5 all by himself without any progress by any of his other teammates. Wow. Alabama’s defense is going to possibly give up half of that per game this year. This unit held down an experienced QB Logan Thomas to 5-of-26 passing for 59 yards two weeks ago, and only two passes went for more than six yards. Now, we know that Manziel will do better than that, but we don’t see him just running up and down the field the whole game by any stretch of the imagination. This is a really tough one to try to get to, and Manziel isn’t going to do it against the Crimson Tide. Johnny Manziel 2012 Rushing + Passing Yards in 2012 (+27.5) vs. Rushing + Passing Yards in 2013 (-115)

BCS LogoAnd it all comes down to this! The BCS National Championship Game picks are finally here to be made, and here at Bankroll Sports, we are looking at some of the best college football prop picks on the board and showing you how you can win on the BCS Championship Game without playing the Alabama vs. Notre Dame odds or spreads.

Team To Call First Timeout: It seems like something awfully stupid to bet on, but when push comes to shove, most of the early timeouts that are called in games are called because coaches and players aren’t so sure of what they are ultimately supposed to be doing. Alabama has been here and done this time and time again, whether it be here at the National Championship Game, playing in the SEC Championship, or playing in front of tens of thousands of fans at Tiger Stadium or any of the other huge venues that the SEC has to offer. Notre Dame plays its share of big games, but this is as big as it gets. QB Everett Golson isn’t even trusted in the two minute drill, and it just doesn’t look all that pretty for him under center in this game. The Alabama defense is fast, strong, and hits incredibly hard, and that really could confuse the heck out of Golson early on. Significantly more often than not, it seems as though Notre Dame will be calling the first timeout of the contest. Notre Dame To Call First Timeout (-125)

Will AJ McCarron Throw a Touchdown Before an Interception?: This is one of these no-lose props for us as we see it. McCarron only threw three interceptions all year long, and two of those came in one game against the Texas A&M Aggies. He just isn’t put into positions where he can get into trouble all that often, and Head Coach Nick Saban really protects him. Yes, the Notre Dame defense is great, and yes, that might keep him from throwing a touchdown at all. However, knowing that we are getting our money back if neither a TD nor an INT is thrown, there is just no way that we think that McCarron is getting picked off first. At -500 is probably the fair price for this prop, and we’re going to take full advantage of it. AJ McCarron To Throw a Touchdown Before an Interception (-200)

Will AJ McCarron Throw an Interception?: Same shtick. Considering the fact that he was picked off in two out of 13 games this year, we really don’t see McCarron getting intercepted in this game. AJ McCarron To Not Throw an Interception (-110)

Will Jeremy Shelley Miss a Field Goal?: We’re not ones to say that a kicker can never miss, but Shelley just isn’t put into a position to miss all that often. He is the short range kicker for the Crimson Tide, and he is the only kicker in America that didn’t miss a single kick this year. It’s ridiculous to think that he is posted at just -220 to not miss a field goal in this game when he hasn’t missed all year long. Jeremy Shelley To Not Miss a Field Goal (-220)

Eddie Lacy Yards On First Rushing Attempt Over/Under 3.5: Lacy averaged 6.5 yards per carry this year, and he is running behind the best offensive line in the country. Apologies to the Fighting Irish, but they aren’t holding Lacy under four yards on more than half of his carries in this game in all likelihood. Eddie Lacy Yards On First Rushing Attempt Over 3.5 (-115)

Everett Golson Over/Under 205.5 Passing Yards: Alabama conceded just 166.2 passing yards per game this year, and Golson averaged under 180 passing yards per game. Granted, we know that Golson has played against some tough defenses, but he hasn’t seen a team like this one. He has at least 200 passing yards in four straight games, but those games have come against Pitt, Boston College, Wake Forest, and USC. This is a much tougher task and should be a lot more like the game that he had against Michigan State or Stanford, both of which he was mired under 180 total passing yards. Everett Golson Under 205.5 Passing Yards (-115)

Kyle Brindza Over/Under 6 Points: We would basically need Brindza to boot two field goals to win this prop bet for us, and we think that it is very reasonable that he would ultimately be able to do that. Remember that Brindza kicked 23 field goals for an offense that often sputtered down near the goal line this year. It’s absolutely unimaginable to think that Alabama is going to post another shutout in a second straight National Championship Game, and though it might be ill-advised, we have to think that the Notre Dame kicker will at least get a couple of cracks from inside 40 yards or so in this game. Kyle Brindza Over 6 Points (-140)

Will Everett Golson Throw a 1st Half Touchdown Pass?: The better question might be asking whether Golson is going to throw a TD pass in the entire game or not. The Alabama defense probably isn’t allowing more than one TD for the whole game, let alone for the whole half, and the likelihood that Golson throws it isn’t all that good. Remember that this is still just a sophomore, and it comes in a game against a fantastic defense. Golson only threw 11 TDs all year. There doesn’t seem to be even a 40% chance of him throwing one in the first 30 minutes of this game. Everett Golson Doesn’t Throw a First Half Touchdown Pass (-160)

Key #1: The Fighting Irish have to prove that they can get through one of the best offensive lines in America
They say that the reason that even the teams in college football can’t even hold a candle to the worst team ever assembled in the NFL is because of the play in the trenches. The big boys in the NFL are just bigger, stronger, faster, and more agile than the ones in college, and whereas every now and again you get a team that has a few great linemen on both sides of the ball on a collegiate team, you’ve got tremendous depth along both lines in the NFL. If there is an offensive line in college football that was ready to go up against a defensive line in the NFL though, the Alabama line would be the one. The Crimson Tide feature just a slew of offensive linemen that just have a tendency of leaning on opposing defensive lines and ultimately getting them to wear down over the course of a game. It’s not that Alabama runs the ball a zillion times that really makes this team go – after all, the Tide do only run the ball on 63% of their plays. It’s just the fact that these linemen just continually pave hole after hole in opposing defenses. Don’t get us wrong, as RB Eddie Lacy and RB TJ Yeldon are both fantastic athletics. The reason that they are averaging 6.5 yards per carry each is because of this offensive line. It doesn’t matter who you’ve got running the ball when you’ve got Mack trucks there to pave the way. The Notre Dame defense has been great this year in a number of clutch situations in the trenches along the defensive line, but it hasn’t seen an offensive line like this one all year long. That’s where the Golden Domers are going to prove that they belong, or will shrivel in this game.

Key #2: Everett Golson has to prove that this is his time to shine
It’s tough to knock anything that the Irish have done this year, as they are a 12-0 team and the only undefeated team that is eligible to play for the National Championship this season. However, we have never been fans of the split quarterback system, especially knowing that QB Everett Golson was always taken out of the lineup in the two-minute drill. Every play is a big one when you’re playing against the talented Alabama defense, and Golson has to make the most of his opportunities. If Head Coach Brian Kelly truly believes that this is the man for the job, he should stick with him. Golson though, only completed 58.9 percent of his passes this year, averaged just 177.9 passing yards per game, and had just 11 TDs against five picks. He really doesn’t have a target, save for TE Tyler Eifert that is all that remarkable of a receiver, and in the end, it is going to come down to what he can make happen against one of the very best defenses in college football.

WagerWeb

Key #3: The Irish have to control the clock
Time of possession is always a key stat in SEC games, and generally speaking, whichever team ultimately possesses the ball for longer tends to win. The Irish only average taking 68.7 snaps per game offensively this year, while the Crimson Tide are even lower at 63.2 offensive snaps per game. Clearly, neither of these teams are in all that much of a hurry to try to get up to the line of scrimmage and play. But ask the Georgia Bulldogs what happens when you get killed in the time of possession battle against Alabama. In the SEC Championship Game, Lacy ran for 181 yards, and Yeldon ran for 153 yards. The end result was 350 total rushing yards for the team on the day on a total of 51 carries. This goes back to that whole offensive line thing that we were talking about earlier. Alabama absolutely will punish you if you let it. The Fighting Irish cannot let the Crimson Tide take 70 snaps in this game, or they are going to be in a whole mess load of trouble. Golson has to keep the sticks moving on third downs, and when the defense has a chance to get off of the field, it has to take those chances. It isn’t absolutely imperative for Alabama to win the time of possession battle, but we feel as though Notre Dame has no chance whatsoever to get the job done if it doesn’t have the majority of the possession for the game.

2012 Top 25 College Football Games of the Year
#19 Alabama Crimson Tide @ Arkansas Razorbacks

Alabama (-20) vs. Arkansas

Razorbacks mascotLast year in the SEC West, there was a point that the Arkansas Razorbacks, Alabama Crimson Tide, and LSU Tigers were ranked Nos. 1, 2, and 3 in the nation. This year though, matters are basically going to start over for these three teams, as they try to work their hardest to get back in the chase for the BCS bowl games and the National Championship Game. Alabama and Arkansas don’t quite have the same type of returning year though, as the Tide had a great offseason chock full of more recruits and high expectations, while Arkansas had to go through the dismissal of its head coach and a totally new scheme to put into place. This is going to be one of the top games in the SEC all season long, and especially since it is so early in the season, it is a game that we are going to watch on the college football betting odds as one of our Top 25 college football games of the year.

Alabama Crimson Tide vs. Arkansas Razorbacks Picks & Info
Alabama Crimson Tide vs. Arkansas Razorbacks Date: Saturday, September 15th
Alabama Crimson Tide vs. Arkansas Razorbacks Location: Razorback Stadium, Fayetteville, AR
Alabama vs. Arkansas Opening Point Spread: Alabama Crimson Tide -6
Alabama vs. Arkansas Current Point Spread: Alabama Crimson Tide -20

The Crimson Tide won the BCS National Championship last year, and this time around, they are going to be favored to do the exact same thing. There are only going to be 12 returning starters from last year’s title team, but at Alabama, the Tide don’t rebuild; they reload. And that’s exactly what we have seen so far this year. The talk of the town in Tuscaloosa is that this is the best offensive line in the country. Barrett Jones and Chance Warmack are anchoring what should be an awesome line to block for QB AJ McCarron and a loaded running back stable. We think that this is a team that has the potential to put up a ton of points like it did last year, and at least at this point in the season, that has proven to be the case. Defensively, the Crimson Tide are always amongst the best team in the land, and this is no exception even though there are only five starters back in the fold. This early in the year though, it should be a bit of a task to ask some of these freshmen and sophomores to come on the road for the first time in what should still be a hostile environment.

Alabama Crimson Tide vs. Arkansas Razorbacks Past Games (Since 1995)
2011: Alabama 38 – Arkansas 14
2010: Alabama 24 – Arkansas 20
2009: Alabama 35 – Arkansas 7
2008: Alabama 49 – Arkansas 14
2007: Alabama 41 – Arkansas 38
2006: Arkansas 24 – Alabama 23
2005: Alabama 24 – Arkansas 13
2004: Arkansas 27 – Alabama 10
2003: Arkansas 34 – Alabama 31
2002: Alabama 30 – Arkansas 12
2001: Alabama 31 – Arkansas 10
2000: Arkansas 28 – Alabama 21
1999: Alabama 35 – Arkansas 28
1998: Arkansas 42 – Alabama 6
1997: Arkansas 17 – Alabama 16
1996: Alabama 17 – Arkansas 7

Head Coach Bobby Petrino is out of the loop after some major off the field issues, but the cupboard isn’t nearly bare for the new coach, John L. Smith. There are only seven starters that are back on offense, but the losses of the likes of WR Joe Adams, WR Greg Childs, WR Jarius Wright, and RB Broderick Green won’t hurt the team all that much. QB Tyler Wilson is a senior quarterback now, and the fact that he is going to be out of the fold injured is why this point spread has jumped up by two touchdowns. The offensive line only has three returners, and that could really be exploited against the terrorizing Alabama defense. The defense will be challenged as well, though at least the secondary has three starters that are back. Watch out for LB Alonzo Highsmith, who could be the centerpiece of this lineup, though he could find it tough to get into the Alabama backfield as he did last year against the majority of the SEC. The defense is going to have to keep the Hogs in this game from start to finish, because if the offense’s play last week against Louisiana Monroe was any indication, it is going to be a long, long game for them against Bama.

Alabama @ Arkansas Free Picks (as of August 2012)^^: We know that this could be a tough test for the Crimson Tide early in the year, but we just don’t see how the Razorbacks, with so many changes going on this year, are going to be able to beat the big boys from the SEC West. Arkansas might live to tell about this in the end, but we just don’t think that Wilson is going to be able to get the job done, even at home. Alabama should be able to punish the Arkansas offense, and that could send the end result of this one into a romp for the guests.

Update 9/14/12: Obviously, matters changed in this game when Wilson was knocked out for the biggest game of the year. The Crimson Tide really have looked great and are the top ranked team in the nation. Arkansas will be hard pressed to figure out how to stop this offense, and it will surely have a tough time scoring points. The crowd is literally going to have to be the 12th man on the field for the whole game if Arkansas has a fighting chance.

#3 Michigan Wolverines vs. Alabama Crimson Tide

Michigan vs. Alabama (-12.5)

Michigan vs. Alabama 2012Michigan Wolverines fans and fans of the Big Ten have been barking for years that they don’t get primetime love in the big time games of the week. The Penn State Nittany Lions had their chance against the Alabama Crimson Tide over the course of the last two years, only to get pummeled in both outings. Now, it’s up to Big Blue to see if they can represent the Big Ten in what should be one of the best games of the season against the Tide in Arlington at Dallas Cowboys Stadium on the first Saturday of the season. You surely don’t want to miss this one, as the Wolverines and Crimson Tide should make for one of the best college football matchups of the season.

Michigan Wolverines vs. Alabama Crimson Tide Picks & Info
Michigan Wolverines vs. Alabama Crimson Tide Date: Saturday, September 1st
Michigan Wolverines vs. Alabama Crimson Tide Location: Dallas Cowboys Stadium, Arlington, TX
Michigan Wolverines vs. Alabama Crimson Tide Spread: Alabama Crimson Tide -12.5

Welcome to the big time, QB Denard Robinson! Robinson knows that this is the game that will make or break his entire season. Finding a way to pull off the upset of the Crimson Tide in what might feel like a de facto road game would make Michigan a National Championship contender, would solidify Robinson as a Heisman Trophy finalist nearly for certain, and it could make Robinson a first round pick in the NFL Draft next year. No pressure, kid. Of course, around Robinson is the core that returns from a defense that ranked surprisingly high last year in the Big Ten. This is going to be a heck of a challenge against an Alabama defense that is always one of the best in the nation, knowing that the Michigan ‘D’ won’t be able to make all that many mistakes and live to tell about it. Watch for WR Roy Roundtree in this one, as he might be the best receiving option that Robinson has to get the ball up the field to against a stout secondary.

Michigan Wolverines vs. Alabama Crimson Tide Past Games (Since 1995)
2000: Michigan 35 – Alabama 34
1997: Alabama 17 – Michigan 14

We know full well that Alabama is going to be a contender to back to the BCS National Championship Game this year. The Tide are stacked once again in spite of the fact that they are only returning 12 starters from last year’s title team. That being said, the Crimson Tide don’t know how to rebuild. They just know how to reload. RB Eddie Lacy is going to end up being the next featured back now that RB Trent Richardson is gone, and there will surely be some great linebackers that step up to replace LB Don’t’a Hightower and LB Courtney Upshaw. The key to what will make this team go though, will be the offensive line. The four remaining members from this outstanding OL will be protecting QB AJ McCarron, who could suddenly become one of the better quarterbacks in the SEC as well.

Michigan vs. Alabama Free Picks^^: Michigan is going to end up being disrespected in this game, and we just don’t know if it is justified. Granted, we think that the Crimson Tide are going to end up winning this game, but we don’t know if laying a dozen is a great idea with a team that is going through so much change. Michigan knows that it has a real shot of pulling off the upset, and if it goes into this one feeling like that can happen, it should be able to stick around with the Tide. This really could live up to the billing as one of the best games of the year, unlike what happened last year when the LSU Tigers took on the Oregon Ducks here in Jerry World.

2012 Top 25 College Football Games of the Year
#1 Alabama Crimson Tide @ LSU Tigers

Alabama @ LSU (-3.5)

Alabama vs. LSUOver the course of the last few weeks, we here at Bankroll Sports have counted down the Top 25 college football matchups. The first 24 games were awfully difficult to be able to place, but there has never been a doubt as to what the top game on the docket would be. The LSU Tigers and the Alabama Crimson Tide clashes in two absolutely amazing games last year, including in the BCS National Championship Game. Almost a full year later, the two are going to meet again, and they are likely to once again be meeting as two of the top teams in the entire country. Don’t miss what should be the most highly anticipated NCAA football matchup of the season, as we make our LSU vs. Alabama picks for the biggest clash of the year.

Alabama Crimson Tide @ LSU Tigers Picks & Info
Alabama Crimson Tide @ LSU Tigers Date: Saturday, November 3rd
Alabama Crimson Tide @ LSU Tigers Location: Tiger Stadium, Baton Rouge, LA
Alabama Crimson Tide @ LSU Tigers Spread: LSU Tigers -2.5

We have spoken a ton about Alabama in this countdown of our Top 25 college football games of the year. QB AJ McCarron is going to be one of the best quarterbacks in the SEC this year, and he is going to have a great team in front of him once again. Last year, the Tide came into this battle with the Bayou Bengals with a ton of experience. The bad news is that LB Dont’a Hightower and LB Courtney Upshaw are gone, as are a slew of other starters from a campaign ago. The problems in the kicking game clearly haven’t been fixed, and that could come back and really hurt the team this time around as well. Remember that if Head Coach Nick Saban had a solid kicker, the Tide would have ran the table and finished the year with a 14-0 mark, and Alabama would have been known as arguably the best team of all-time. This year, there definitely isn’t that threat that this could be the best team ever, but being a National Championship contender definitely isn’t out of the question. However, losing this game would not just cost the Tide a shot at the title, but once again at the SEC West, too.

Alabama Crimson Tide vs. LSU Tigers Past Games (Since 1995)
2012: Alabama 21 – LSU 0 (BCS National Championship Game)
2011: LSU 9 – Alabama 6
2010: LSU 24 – Alabama 21
2009: Alabama 24 – LSU 15
2008: Alabama 27 – LSU 21
2007: LSU 41 – Alabama 34
2006: LSU 28 – Alabama 14
2005: LSU 16 – Alabama 13
2004: LSU 26 – Alabama 10
2003: LSU 27 – Alabama 3
2002: Alabama 31 – LSU 0
2001: LSU 35 – Alabama 21
2000: LSU 30 – Alabama 28
1999: Alabama 23 – LSU 17
1998: Alabama 22 – LSU 16
1997: LSU 27 – Alabama 0
1996: Alabama 26 – LSU 0

Meanwhile, LSU was the team that did run the table in the regular season last year, and had it not put forth a total dud in January, it would have been known as the greatest team ever. Once again, this is going to be one of the best defenses in the nation, and that’s in spite of the fact that DB Tyrann Mathieu, last year’s Heisman Trophy finalist and DB Mo Claiborne are gone from the team. Head Coach Les Miles always finds way to replenish his team in a hurry though, and there aren’t all that many years in which t Bayou Bengals aren’t one of the Top 10 teams in the land. QB Zach Mettenberger is going to be the man that has to take over this offense, and he can’t possibly score any fewer touchdowns than QB Jordan Jefferson and QB Jarrett Lee did last year in two starts against the Tide. Look for the big time stable of running backs to try to do it all against Alabama. That was the recipe last year in this game when these two teams met in Tuscaloosa, and it is going to surely be the recipe once again if the Tigers are to roar loudly and get the job done in the biggest game of the season.

Alabama @ LSU Free Picks^^: We know that this is going to be the biggest game of the college football season, and it should live up to that billing. Both of these defenses are going to be excellent once again, and there is just no reason to think that there is going to be anything but a struggle for both offenses no matter how many returners that are on both sides. The two games last year featured a combined 36 points, and though we do think that we are going to see some touchdowns, we know that they are going to be few and far between. In the end, just as LSU was able to go on the road and win this fixture, we think that the Crimson Tide are going to repay the favor in Baton Rouge in the biggest game of the year.

^^Disclaimer: Our college football picks by our sports blog writers are independent of those from our Expert NCAA Football Handicappers. All NCAA football odds and lines in our Top 25 are from the month of August, and those lines could and likely will change by the time the game kicks off.

You won’t want to miss our Alabama @ LSU picks when our expert college football handicappers have them posted on the week of 11/3/12.
