Florida State FootballWeek 5’s CFB schedule is out, and here at Bankroll Sports, we are going to be discussing some of the best college football odds that are going to be on tap for what should be another great weekend of action on the gridiron.

We’ll start with what should be a great game in the suddenly surging Pac-12. The Washington Huskies and the Stanford Cardinal are going to kick it off on Thursday night in what should be a great start to the weekend. With as good as the rest of the Pac-12 is this year, this is a very important game for both of these teams. We’ll see just how strong Stanford really is when it has to go on the road for this one just a week and a half after taking down the mighty USC Trojans, which should make this game a heck of a lot of fun. The Cardinal have opened up this week at just -7, proving that the oddsmakers believe that they have a real chance of getting beaten.

Speaking of teams that have all to play for, that’s what the BYU Cougars have to be thinking on Friday night when they are on national television once again to take on the Hawaii Warriors. The Cougs probably know that their season is just about over with in terms of producing anything special, as they were beaten by both the Utah Utes and Boise State Broncos in back to back weeks. Hawaii is gunning for the upset on the road in a nationally televised game, but it clearly is going to be an uphill fight from the start against a BYU team that has superior talent. The Cougs are laying 27.5 at the open this week, and they really shouldn’t be challenged.

There aren’t many games that pit a pair of ranked teams against each other this week, but one of the more vital ones is going to see the Ohio State Buckeyes take on the Michigan State Spartans. Michigan State is one of the three Big Ten teams that already have a loss at the hands of the Notre Dame Fighting Irish this year, and it is just trying to keep its spot in the Top 25. Alas, here come the ultimate spoilers from Columbus though, as the Buckeyes are trying to make life a living hell on all of the other teams that are indeed bowl eligible in the Big Ten this year. This will be the biggest test of the year for QB Braxton Miller to date, as he tries to prove that he is a Heisman Trophy type of candidate on the national stage. The Buckeyes are slender 2.5 point underdogs in East Lansing.

The night cap of games sees just a slew of great teams going on the road for what might be very, very dangerous outings.

We’ll start with the Florida State Seminoles, who are the talk of the town right now after taking down the Clemson Tigers with an incredibly impressive second half of play on national television. The schedule is relatively easy from here on out, but the boys in garnet and gold have to take on a foe that they haven’t had a great history against this week in the South Florida Bulls, who have been preparing for this game all year long. This could be a real fight to the death in Tampa Bay, though it might feel like a de facto home game for the Noles, who should travel well to a huge stadium that normally has a ton of empty seats. The Noles are -16, but there is a lot of sentiment that perhaps this could be a tremendous letdown game for the garnet and gold.

Meanwhile, there are a ton of other road favorites that are either ranked in the Top 25 or almost ranked in the Top 25 that are going to be playing primetime games.

The South Carolina Gamecocks, UCLA Bruins, Boise State Broncos, TCU Horned Frogs, Texas Longhorns, Oregon Ducks, and Louisville Cardinals are all on the road this week, and they are all expected to come away with wins. We know that they all won’t though, and it is only a matter of trying to figure out which ones are going to get picked off. Texas is the one that is probably in the most trouble, as it is just -3 on the road, and the rest of these teams are all double digit favorites.

There actually isn’t a team that is a bigger favorite this week than the Alabama Crimson Tide. Granted, it’s never a surprise to know that the Tide are the biggest favorites on the board, but what makes it weird is the fact that the point spread is only 31.5 against the Ole Miss Rebels. Alabama is the only team that is favored by at least 30 this week in FBS vs. FBS games, and this is coming in a conference game. For those that have watched SEC games for years and years, it’s odd for sure, to think that these games are featuring spreads of more than four touchdowns, but this Alabama team is obviously a lot better than your average team.

A whopping 21 games on the board this week feature college football pointspreads of seven points or fewer. That’s over double the amount that were on the board at the outset of Week 4, and it might be as close of a week in terms of competition as you will see for the rest of the season.

Week 4 of the 2012 college football campaign is going to get underway this weekend. Below you will find the current list of 2012 Week 4 NCAA football lines and spreads along with a breakdown of the Week 4 college football lines. Be sure to check out the free NCAA football picks from the expert handicappers at Bankroll Sports this weekend!

We are going to have our first week of college football betting action with three weekday games before the main course kicks off on Saturday. The first of those games is in the MAC, and it pits the Buffalo Bulls against the Kent State Golden Flashes. Neither of these teams really have all that great of an offense, but neither has much of a defense either. There is a big difference between these clubs starting at 2-1 or 1-2, and one will be in each position when this one is over. This one starts the week with Buffalo at -3 on the NCAA football betting odds.

On Thursday night, the Boise State Broncos and BYU Cougars are going to battle it out in a clash of teams that want to have an impact on the BCS chase. The truth of the matter is that neither one of these teams is likely to do it, but this is certainly an elimination game for two teams that have already suffered one loss. Boise State will have the edge playing on the Smurf Turf. Both teams are coming off of a short week, but it just feels like BYU had a bit of the stuffing knocked out of it last week when it was beaten by its rivals from Utah. Boise State is laying 7.5 to open the week up.

Friday night is going to be a doozy that we are really looking forward to watching on the college football TV schedule. The Louisiana Monroe have already proven that they can play with the big boys in the SEC, and this is going to be the third straight game against a team from the AQ conferences. Baylor is right on the verge of the Top 25 once again, but this is going to be a heck of a fight, as it is the most important game in the history of the Warhawks program. Expect to see QB Nick Florence and QB Kolton Browning shooting it out in the Bayou. Baylor is getting the initial nod by 7.5-points, but it will be interesting to see what happens with this pointspread as the week goes on.

It shouldn’t be all that much of a surprise that the number of massive, massive favorites has come down quite a bit over the course of the last few days, as there is only one team in an FBS vs. FBS game that is favored by more than 34.5 points. That title goes to the Alabama Crimson Tide, who are the No. 2 team in the nation in terms of point differential this year. Alabama is just steamrolling everyone that it runs up against, and the Florida Atlantic Owls shouldn’t be all that much of an exception. This is the first time this year that we have seen an FBS vs. FBS game feature a CFB pointspread this big though, as Alabama is laying 50 to the Sun Belt cellar dwellers.

Honorable mentions go out to the Mississippi State Bulldogs, who are -34.5 against the South Alabama Jaguars, and the Ohio State Buckeyes, who are -37.5 against the UAB Blazers.

The big time games of the weekend are all featuring point spreads that really could be dangerous for the big time teams.

We’ll start at the top of the rotation schedule with the Florida State Seminoles. They haven’t had a great history against the Clemson Tigers, and this year might not be all that much of an exception. However, what we have to note about FSU, is that this might be the only game this year in which it has to play a ranked team at the time of the game between the two teams. QB Tajh Boyd knows what it takes to beat the Noles, and Head Coach Dabo Swinney does have a win here at Doak Campbell Stadium to his credit in his career. In a game that likely could (and should) decide the winner of the ACC Atlantic Division, Florida State is -14 in primetime.

Does that 14-point spread look familiar? It’s the same number that the Oklahoma Sooners are giving to the Kansas State Wildcats. Many are thinking that this game could be an upset, though last year, with KSU still nursing an undefeated season at the time, the Sooners came to Manhattan and absolutely drubbed the Cats. Could payback be in store? QB Collin Klein and his band of purple and grey clad men are going to hope so, but as the CFB odds show, it is going to be a long, uphill climb in primetime in Norman.

The Notre Dame Fighting Irish have to think that this is the year that they can legitimately fight for the BCS National Championship. If they run the table, they’ll be hard to keep out, but they have a big time test this week against the Michigan Wolverines. The Golden Domers have already proven that they can beat the Michigan State Spartans on the road, but this is going to be a far more interesting test against a team that has such a dynamic quarterback in QB Denard Robinson. Notre Dame is laying seven, but either way, this is expected to be a heck of a close game.

The Oregon Ducks figure to be able to romp to another Pac-12 victory this week when they take on the Arizona Wildcats, but already, we have seen some major confidence in the U of A. These two teams average right at 1,200 yards per game between them, and they are sure to be squads that are ready to put some major points on the board. Oregon is starting off by laying 23.5 of them, but that line opened at 27 on Sunday afternoon and immediately dropped before the rest of the online sportsbooks opened up. This could be a game that is a lot more interesting than the college football point spread suggests.

Down in the great state of Alabama, the Tigers from Auburn will battle the Tigers from LSU in the first real test of the year for the Bayou Bengals. LSU is laying 18.5, and that’s a heck of a lot for a team to be giving on the road in a conference game with a true freshman making his first ever big time road start.

If you’re looking for some proof that some Top 10 teams from the start of the year have really fallen flat, look at the Wisconsin Badgers and Arkansas Razorbacks. They both would have been at least three touchdown favorites, and Arkansas would have probably been a five TD favorite this week at the outset of the season, but now, the Badgers are laying just 16 to the lowly UTEP Miners, while the Hogs are giving five to the Rutgers Scarlet Knights.

We also want to point out that the Minnesota Golden Gophers are one of the three teams in the Big Ten that still have spotless records this year. We know that the Buckeyes are going to improve to 4-0, but Minnesota could as well. The Gophers are laying two to the Syracuse Orange in what really might be a crucial game to the bowl hopes of both clubs.

Bama CheerleadersWeek 3 of the 2012 college football campaign is going to get underway this weekend. Be sure to check out the free NCAA football picks from the expert handicappers at Bankroll Sports this weekend!

It is going to be a great week of college football betting action over the course of the weekend, and there are some great rivalries, especially in the SEC that are going to be highlighted. But before we get to the games in the Southeast, we’re going to take a look at the games on the college football schedule at the outset of the week.

We’ll start in the Big East, where the Rutgers Scarlet Knights and the South Florida Bulls will do battle. There is no doubt whatsoever that this is going to be the game of the weekend in the Big East, as the loser of this one is probably going to have its BCS hopes crushed already in just Week 3. South Florida is clearly the better of these two teams, and that’s what we see right now on the college football opening lines, with the Bulls favored by 8.5 points.

On Friday night, the Washington State Cougars and UNLV Runnin’ Rebels are going to go to war against one another. These two teams are a combined 1-3 this year, and last week, both teams had all that they could ask for from a pair of FCS teams. UNLV dropped to 0-2 by losing to Northern Arizona, and Wazzu really should have been beaten by Eastern Washington. Needless to say, this isn’t going to be the sexiest game in the world, but it will be one to watch, as it is the only game on the docket. Check back later for the college football pointspread for this game.

And then we head to the games on Saturday, which really should be a doozy. Of course, the one that all eyes are going to be on is the one between the Alabama Crimson Tide and the Arkansas Razorbacks. This game, at least as of Sunday afternoon, is still off the board, knowing that QB Tyler Wilson might be out of the fold after suffering a terrible injury against Louisiana Monroe last week. Even worse was the fact that the Hogs lost that game. Now, they could go from a team that was ranked in the Top 10 in the land to one that could drop straight out of the Top 25 and be just a 1-2 team with a lot of questions to answer. Alabama was favored by six at the outset of the season, and if you want to see where this game ranks in our countdown of the Top 25 college football games of the year, be sure to check out our full Alabama vs. Arkansas Preview. Update 9/14: Alabama has opened up as a three-touchdown favorite on the road due to the fact that Wilson is not going to be in the lineup for the Razorbacks.

Over on the other side of the SEC, the Florida Gators and Tennessee Volunteers are going to do battle. These two teams have had a bitter rivalry against one another, and this should be no exception whatsoever. Florida was able to go on the road last week by beating the Texas A&M Aggies, and it is going to have to do so once again this week if it wants to keep this momentum going before the really tremendously difficult portion of the season gets going. The Gators are just a pick ’em though, meaning the Volunteers really have a legitimate chance to get the job done in Rocky Top.

Meanwhile in the Pac-12, the No. 2 team in the country, the USC Trojans, are going to be facing their first really difficult road test when they go down to “The Farm” to take on the Stanford Cardinal. This is our No. 9 game in our countdown of the Top 25 games of the year, and our USC vs. Stanford Game Preview. As far as the NCAA football pointspread is concerned, the Men of Troy are favored by just 8.5-points, which is a field goal down from where the game opened up at the outset of the year.

Arch rivals are also going to be meeting each other in East Lansing, where the Notre Dame Fighting Irish and the Michigan State Spartans are going to be facing off. The last time that these two played here at Spartans Stadium, the game down to a fake field goal in overtime that was converted by the Spartans known as the “Little Giants” play. This time around, the Golden Domers are going to be looking for some payback, but it certainly isn’t going to come easily. The Irish were barely able to escape last week from the Purdue Boilermakers, and this week, they are 3.5-point underdogs on the opening college football lines.

Not every game is going to be nearly that close. The aforementioned Boilermakers are 22.5 point favorites over the Eastern Michigan Eagles, and they are amongst the 13 teams that are favored by more than three touchdowns on the opening line.

Three teams are favored by at least 40 though and that’s definitely not something that you see every single week when you’re just talking about teams that play each other at the FBS level. Amongst the teams that are expected to really falter this week are the Florida Atlantic Owls (+44.5 @ Georgia), Idaho Vandals (+43.5 @ LSU), and the biggest of the bunch, and Massachusetts Minutemen, who are getting 46.5 against the Michigan Wolverines in Ann Arbor.

All eyes are going to be on the Auburn Tigers on Saturday afternoon to start the day, as they are going to be on upset alert against the Louisiana Monroe Warhawks. These are the same Warhawks that were able to go into Little Rock and take down the Razorbacks last week. The challenge is significantly easier this week, knowing that the point spread is a solid two touchdowns shorter than it was then, but still, asking a team to win a game as 17-point underdogs on the road is never easy to do.

Another game of note pits the Navy Midshipmen against the Penn State Nittany Lions. PSU still hasn’t won its first game of the season, and if this one is lost, it is going to be a long, long uphill climb for the rest of the year. Navy was clocked the last time that we saw it over in Dublin against Notre Dame, but this time around, the Middies might be able to steal one on the road. The Midshipmen are 7.5-point underdogs, not all that far off from where the Ohio Bobcats were when they pulled off the upset in Week 1.

The TCU Horned Frogs are also set to open up their Big XII schedule for the first time in their school’s history, but this isn’t going to be all that much of a challenge. The Kansas Jayhawks are the biggest wrecks that the conference has to offer right now, and they are deserving 26.5-point underdogs at home to TCU.

The night on Saturday is going to end with the Utah Utes and the BYU Cougars in the “Holy War” in a battle that will clearly separate one of these two teams from the other. The Cougs could be thinking about the BCS at this point, knowing that they might be the only team in non-BCS conference fold that can run the table. It won’t mean anything without the win in Salt Lake City, though. The Utes, who lost to the Utah State Aggies for the first time last week in over a dozen years, are 2.5 point underdogs to their rivals from Provo.

2012 Top 25 College Football Games of the Year
#19 Alabama Crimson Tide @ Arkansas Razorbacks

Alabama (-20) vs. Arkansas

Razorbacks mascotLast year in the SEC West, there was a point that the Arkansas Razorbacks, Alabama Crimson Tide, and LSU Tigers were ranked Nos. 1, 2, and 3 in the nation. This year though, matters are basically going to start over for these three teams, as they try to work their hardest to get back in the chase for the BCS bowl games and the National Championship Game. Alabama and Arkansas don’t quite have the same type of returning year though, as the Tide had a great offseason chock full of more recruits and high expectations, while Arkansas had to go through the dismissal of its head coach and a totally new scheme to put into place. This is going to be one of the top games in the SEC all season long, and especially since it is so early in the season, it is a game that we are going to watch on the college football betting odds as one of our Top 25 college football games of the year.

Alabama Crimson Tide vs. Arkansas Razorbacks Picks & Info
Alabama Crimson Tide vs. Arkansas Razorbacks Date: Saturday, September 15th
Alabama Crimson Tide vs. Arkansas Razorbacks Location: Razorback Stadium, Fayetteville, AR
Alabama vs. Arkansas Opening Point Spread: Alabama Crimson Tide -6
Alabama vs. Arkansas Current Point Spread: Alabama Crimson Tide -20

The Crimson Tide won the BCS National Championship last year, and this time around, they are going to be favored to do the exact same thing. There are only going to be 12 returning starters from last year’s title team, but at Alabama, the Tide don’t rebuild; they reload. And that’s exactly what we have seen so far this year. The talk of the town in Tuscaloosa is that this is the best offensive line in the country. Barrett Jones and Chance Warmack are anchoring what should be an awesome line to block for QB AJ McCarron and a loaded running back stable. We think that this is a team that has the potential to put up a ton of points like it did last year, and at least at this point in the season, that has proven to be the case. Defensively, the Crimson Tide are always amongst the best team in the land, and this is no exception even though there are only five starters back in the fold. This early in the year though, it should be a bit of a task to ask some of these freshmen and sophomores to come on the road for the first time in what should still be a hostile environment.

Alabama Crimson Tide vs. Arkansas Razorbacks Past Games (Since 1995)
2011: Alabama 38 – Arkansas 14
2010: Alabama 24 – Arkansas 20
2009: Alabama 35 – Arkansas 7
2008: Alabama 49 – Arkansas 14
2007: Alabama 41 – Arkansas 38
2006: Arkansas 24 – Alabama 23
2005: Alabama 24 – Arkansas 13
2004: Arkansas 27 – Alabama 10
2003: Arkansas 34 – Alabama 31
2002: Alabama 30 – Arkansas 12
2001: Alabama 31 – Arkansas 10
2000: Arkansas 28 – Alabama 21
1999: Alabama 35 – Arkansas 28
1998: Arkansas 42 – Alabama 6
1997: Arkansas 17 – Alabama 16
1996: Alabama 17 – Arkansas 7

Head Coach Bobby Petrino is out of the loop after some major off the field issues, but the cupboard isn’t nearly bare for the new coach, John L. Smith. There are only seven starters that are back on offense, but the losses of the likes of WR Joe Adams, WR Greg Childs, WR Jarius Wright, and RB Broderick Green won’t hurt the team all that much. QB Tyler Wilson is a senior quarterback now, and the fact that he is going to be out of the fold injured is why this point spread has jumped up by two touchdowns. The offensive line only has three returners, and that could really be exploited against the terrorizing Alabama defense. The defense will be challenged as well, though at least the secondary has three starters that are back. Watch out for LB Alonzo Highsmith, who could be the centerpiece of this lineup, though he could find it tough to get into the Alabama backfield as he did last year against the majority of the SEC. The defense is going to have to keep the Hogs in this game from start to finish, because if the offense’s play last week against Louisiana Monroe was any indication, it is going to be a long, long game for them against Bama.

Alabama @ Arkansas Free Picks (as of August 2012)^^: We know that this could be a tough test for the Crimson Tide early in the year, but we just don’t see how the Razorbacks, with so many changes going on this year, are going to be able to beat the big boys from the SEC West. Arkansas might live to tell about this in the end, but we just don’t think that Wilson is going to be able to get the job done, even at home. Alabama should be able to punish the Arkansas offense, and that could send the end result of this one into a romp for the guests.

Update 9/14/12: Obviously, matters changed in this game when Wilson was knocked out for the biggest game of the year. The Crimson Tide really have looked great and are the top ranked team in the nation. Arkansas will be hard pressed to figure out how to stop this offense, and it will surely have a tough time scoring points. The crowd is literally going to have to be the 12th man on the field for the whole game if Arkansas has a fighting chance.

2012 Top 25 College Football Games of the Year
#9 USC Trojans @ Stanford Cardinal

USC (-11.5) vs. Stanford

Mascot USCIt was only five years ago that the Stanford Cardinal, a tiny little team that was on the upswing coached by Jim Harbaugh, came into the LA Coliseum and shocked the USC Trojans as 39-point underdogs. Since that point, these two have played back and forth football, including some tremendously competitive games. Now that USC is back from its probation, this could be a heck of a clash in the Pac-12, and it might be a preview of the Pac-12 Championship Game if the chips end up falling right for both teams. Coaches on both sides have changed, and both teams have gone through some massive overhauls, but in the end, the results should still be the same. There is a reason that this is the No. 9 game in our list of the Top 25 college football matchups of the season.

USC Trojans vs. Stanford Cardinal Picks & Info
USC Trojans vs. Stanford Cardinal Date: Saturday, September 15th
USC Trojans vs. Stanford Cardinal Location: Stanford Stadium, Palo Alto, CA
USC Trojans vs. Stanford Cardinal Spread: USC Trojans -11.5

After last year’s loss to Stanford in overtime at the Coliseum, the Trojans figure to be out for blood. They have actually lost three in a row in this series, and this is a part of the reason why QB Matt Barkley has come back to school for his final year. Barkley is one of the many future NFLers that will be on the field in this game on both sides, and a lot of them are going to be wearing the colors of the Trojans. Still, you have to go back to 2008 to find the last time that USC was able to come into “The Farm” and post a victory, and at that point, Stanford was still a team that was up and coming. The defense is what is going to be challenged for USC, as the Cardinal have dropped 56, 37, and 55 points on the board against the Trojans over the course of the last three seasons, something that Head Coach Lane Kiffin is surely going to be pointing out to his team when this one comes up on the schedule.

USC Trojans vs. Stanford Cardinal Past Games (Since 1995)
2011: Stanford 56 – USC 48
2010: Stanford 37 – USC 35
2009: Stanford 55 – USC 21
2008: USC 45 – Stanford 23
2007: Stanford 24 – USC 23
2006: USC 42 – Stanford 0
2005: USC 51 – Stanford 21
2004: USC 31 – Stanford 28
2003: USC 44 – Stanford 21
2002: USC 49 – Stanford 17
2001: Stanford 21 – USC 16
2000: Stanford 32 – USC 30
1999: Stanford 35 – USC 31
1998: USC 35 – Stanford 9
1997: USC 45 – Stanford 21
1996: Stanford 24 – USC 20

We haven’t spoken a heck of a lot about the Cardinal this year, but we still think that they are going to be a dangerous team in spite of the fact that QB Andrew Luck is now playing with the Indianapolis Colts. QB Brett Nottingham is a heady player, and he learned at the feet of Luck to be able to come into this position. This might be the time for him to shine. He has a great offensive line in front of him even though OL David DeCastro elected to go to the NFL early. There are four returners, and a heck of a lot of tight ends that know what they are doing both in the passing game and the blocking game. RB Stepfan Taylor could be in for a massive game this time around, almost like what RB Toby Gerhart was able to do to the Trojans a few years ago when these teams played here in Palo Alto.

USC @ Stanford Free Picks^^: The hype that has surrounded USC over the course of the last few months has been out of this world. There is no doubt whatsoever that the Trojans have the superiorly talented team, but we have to remember that Stanford has covered nine out of the last 13 here in this series. That’s definitely not a mistake. Especially for a game that is being played here “On the Farm,” it could be a heck of a challenge for the Men of Troy. We definitely want the points on our side, and we wouldn’t be all that shocked if there is an upset that is in the cards.

Full List of Week 2 College Football Odds are Below

Central Florida KnightsThe 2012 college football betting campaign is officially more than a week old, and here at Bankroll Sports, we are going to be keeping tabs on the Week 2 schedule, chock full of all of our Week 2 CFB picks and an NCAA football odds analysis.

The week begins on Thursday in the Big East with the first game of the year for the Cincinnati Bearcats. They have some high hopes that this will be a year in which they can get back to the BCS. However, the team that they are playing against, the Pitt Panthers, know that they badly need to make a comeback after getting embarrassed by Youngstown State last week in the home opener. Needless to say, it wasn’t the opener that Head Coach Paul Chryst thought that he was getting into. The Bearcats probably wouldn’t have been favored by all that much had this game been played last week, but after watching U-Pitt get trashed by an FCS team, UC is getting the nod by 3.5 points.

On Friday, it’s off to the Beehive State, where the Utah Utes and the Utah State Aggies are going to square off with one another. Both teams were able to beat FCS opponents last week, but we really probably didn’t learn all that much from those games. What we do know is that the Aggies haven’t won a game in this series in a dozen tries, and that is a streak that they will hope to end when they host the Utes in what might be the closest game that these two have played in years. Utah State is going to be hyped for this one on national television, and it is only an underdog by a touchdown.

Saturday’s college football schedule really doesn’t have all that much in the way of featured games. There isn’t a game on the docket in which two teams that started hte season ranked in the Top 25 are going to be playing each other, and that isn’t likely to change when the new rankings come out. Maybe the marquee game pits the Florida Gators against the Texas A&M Aggies in the first game for the Aggies in the SEC. A&M had its game cancelled against Louisiana Tech last week, while the Gators really didn’t look all that sharp against the Bowling Green Falcons. QB Jeff Driskel has been named the starting quarterback for the Gators, but it isn’t impressing the oddsmakers. Texas A&M, in its first game with a new head coach (Kevin Sumlin) and a new quarterback (Johnny Manziel) is favored by 1.5 points.

This is also the week for the first SEC game for the Missouri Tigers. The Tigers probably have the toughest transition into a new conference in the country, but at least they get their first SEC game in Columbia. It’ll be a tough task as well for the Georgia Bulldogs, who are amped up and ready to go, ranked in the Top 10 in the nation. Head Coach Mark Richt and the crew are thinking about a National Championship this year, but they are only laying 3.5 on the road in this one.

One of the top mid major teams in the nation this year, the UCF Knights are going to have a chance to put themselves on the map when they go into the Horseshoe to take on the Ohio State Buckeyes. Both of these teams looked awfully impressive in their openers, but this is going to be a better litmus test for both than what we saw last week when Ohio State trounced the Miami Redhawks and UCF beat up the Akron Zips. Many think that this could be a game in which the Bucks are on upse alert, but the college football odds suggest differently. UCF is getting 17.5 points.

That’s really the theme this coming Saturday, though. There are currently 43 games on the board for this coming week. Of those games, 14 feature college football spreads of at least 21 points, whereas just 15 games have point spreads of seven points or fewer.

There definitely are some storylines to watch, though. The Alabama Crimson Tide are laying 40 againts the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers in what amounts to be the biggest point spread of the week between two FBS teams. Of course, the biggest favorite is going to be the Florida State Seminoles against the Savannah State Tigers. The FCS reps were smashed 84-0 by the Oklahoma State Cowboys last week, and the Big XII reps opened up as 67.5 point favorites. Florida State will likely be the biggest favorite that we have ever seen in college football when this line comes out over the weekend.

Meanwhile in Evanston, both the Vanderbilt Commodores and the Northwestern Wildcats are going to be hoping to build off of positive starts to their seasons. The ‘Dores were beaten in a gritty game on opening night against the South Carolina Gamecocks, but the Wildcats won the game of the week after figuring out how to take care of the Syracuse Orange at the Carrier Dome after blowing a huge lead. Vanderbilt is laying a field goal, but you can bet that there will be bowl mania at Ryan Field, as the Wildcats are a bowl hungry team, and the crowd has to be excited with what QB Kain Colter is bringing to the table.

The Texas State Bobcats are going to be playing their first game at home in their FBS history, and they have a lot to be thrilled about. They were able to go on the road and beat the Houston Cougars last week as humongous underdogs, and this week, they are catching 17.5 at home against the Texas Tech Red Raiders.

Other notable games on the Week 2 college football schedule… LSU is laying 23.5 to Washington… Oregon State is going to have its work cut out for it playing against Wisconsin at Reser Stadium, where the hosts are catching 7.5 points… Notre Dame, fresh off of its romp of Navy, gets to come home, where it is laying 14.5 to Purdue… Massachusetts will be playing its first home game since becoming an FBS team this weekend, and it gets as easy of a draw as it could ask against an Indiana team that hasn’t beaten many FBS teams over the course of the last few seasons. The Minutemen are still 13.5 point underdogs, though.

2012 Top 25 College Football Games of the Year
#18 Georgia Bulldogs @ Missouri Tigers

Georgia (-4.5) @ Missouri

Missouri Tigers FootballThe Missouri Tigers are moving into the SEC this year, and they are going to have a heck of a battle right off the bat when they take on their first foe from the SEC East, as they will fight it out with the Georgia Bulldogs. Both of these teams are going to hope to challenge this year in the conference, but both know that this is going to be the start of a heck of a year that could prove to be difficult for both clubs. Don’t miss out on our Georgia @ Missouri picks in the first SEC game of the season for both clubs.

Georgia Bulldogs @ Missouri Tigers Picks & Info
Georgia Bulldogs @ Missouri Tigers Date: Saturday, September 8th
Georgia Bulldogs @ Missouri Tigers Location: Farout Field, Columbia, MO
Georgia Bulldogs @ Missouri Tigers Spread: Georgia Bulldogs -4.5

The Bulldogs started off the year at 0-2 last season, only to go on a great run to get all the way to the SEC Championship Game. They ended up losing their last two games of the year though, and they aren’t going to want to be in that situation once again in 2012. This is a very tough game though, as Georgia is becoming the first team in the SEC to take a trip to Columbia. Fifteen starters return, but the man of the hour is going to be QB Aaron Murray. Murray is just a junior, but he already is showing the promise of being one of the best quarterbacks, not just in the SEC, but in the nation as well. He is really doing well following the footsteps of QB Blaine Gabbert, and that’s a great sign moving forward for the Dawgs. This defense could really be tested though, as the nine starters that return are going to be facing the type of task that they haven’t really had to deal with in recent years. It’s been quite some time since Georgia has had to play a team out of the Big XII, and this is going to be a totally different contest from the normal SEC games.

Georgia Bulldogs vs. Missouri Tigers Past Games (Since 1995)
None

The Tigers are going to have to win this game with their offense. We just don’t think that their defense is going to be able to stop the Georgia offense, especially this early in the year with just six starters returning. Offensively, the keys are really in place for something special. QB James Franklin is in his second year under center, and RB Henry Josey might be able to poke some holes in that Georgia defensive line. WR TJ Moe is back as well, as are three of the offensive linemen from last year. Senior and junior leadership is all over the place this year for Mizzou, and this is the unit that is going to have to step it up if there is going to be a victory over the Bulldogs in the first game of the team’s time in the SEC.

Georgia @ Missouri Free Picks^^: It’s going to be a challenge, but we think that Missouri is going to figure out how to make this a very, very close game. Georgia might have been a tad overrated last year, knowing that it got to dodge the best teams in the SEC West. We aren’t so sure how the Tigers are really going to stack up when they have to take on Alabama, Arkansas, and LSU, but we do think that they have the ability to win this game, especially in front of the hometown crowd here at Farout Field.
