2011-12 Top 25 College Football Games of the Year
#22 Texas Longhorns vs. Texas A&M Aggies

In the state of Texas, football is a heck of a lot more than just a game, especially when two of the teams from in state are playing one another. A Big XII title could be on the line at the end of the season when the Texas A&M Aggies play host to the Texas Longhorns in what is clearly one of the best battles on the NCAA football odds of the season.

Texas Longhorns @ Texas A&M Aggies Picks & Info
Texas Longhorns @ Texas A&M Aggies Date: Thursday, November 24th, 2011
Texas Longhorns @ Texas A&M Aggies Location: Kyle Field, College Station, TX
Texas Longhorns @ Texas A&M Aggies Spread: Texas A&M Aggies -6

Texas was really a train wreck last season, finishing 5-7 and just 2-6 in conference play. Now, Head Coach Mack Brown also has to deal with the loss of his defensive coordinator, and his coach in waiting, Will Muschamp, who fled to the University of Florida in the offseason. This year though, the question is going to be whether QB Garrett Gilbert is going to be able to step up. He was an absolute disaster in 2010, throwing for just 2,744 yards and 10 TDs against 17 picks, numbers which just pale in comparison to those of his predecessors like Colt McCoy and Vince Young.

Texas Longhorns vs. Texas A&M Aggies Past Games (Since 1995)
2010: Texas A&M 24 – Texas 17
2009: Texas 49 – Texas A&M 39
2008: Texas 49 – Texas A&M 9
2007: Texas A&M 38 – Texas 30
2006: Texas A&M 12 – Texas 7
2005: Texas 40 – Texas A&M 29
2004: Texas 26 – Texas A&M 13
2003: Texas 46 – Texas A&M 15
2002: Texas 50 – Texas A&M 20
2001: Texas 21 – Texas A&M 7
2000: Texas 43 – Texas A&M 17
1999: Texas A&M 20 – Texas 16
1998: Texas 26 – Texas A&M 24
1997: Texas A&M 27 – Texas 16
1996: Texas 51 – Texas A&M 16
1995: Texas 16 – Texas A&M 6

For a change, the Aggies are really going to be the decided favorite in this game, something that they haven’t been in a number of years. And why not? Head Coach Mike Sherman saved his job last year by taking out his onetime Heisman Trophy contender, QB Jerrod Johnson and replacing him with QB Ryan Tannehill, who absolutely lit the world on fire. The Aggies have a great returning backfield and should have an offense that is tough to stop. The question is whether or not a defense which allowed 366 yards per game last season and had some absolutely brutal moments against teams like Oklahoma State and LSU can right the ship and keep A&M in the driver’s seat. This should be a game that Aggies fans are definitely looking forward to this season, as it could really be a romp. This might not be a bad number to invest in right now at -6.

#23 Georgia Bulldogs vs. Florida Gators

The “World’s Largest Cocktail Party” is always one of the best games of the season, and after a fantastic game last year at Ever Bank Stadium, the Georgia Bulldogs and the Florida Gators are sure to have another great tussle this season.

Georgia Bulldogs @ Florida Gators Picks & Info
Georgia Bulldogs @ Florida Gators Date: Saturday, October 29th, 2011
Georgia Bulldogs @ Florida Gators Location: Ever Bank Stadium, Jacksonville, FL
Georgia Bulldogs @ Florida Gators Spread: Florida Gators pk

The Bulldogs really should have won this game last season after storming back from a 21-10 deficit in the third quarter to force overtime. QB Aaron Murray was just a very young freshman when he came into that game against the Gators, but he came out with some battle scars that made him a significantly better signal caller for the rest of the year. Murray is definitely the real deal and is going to probably have a career that rivals that of the departed Matt Stafford. WR AJ Green is no longer on the roster, but there is no doubt that Murray is going to be the key to a rebuilding bunch of Dawgs.

Georgia Bulldogs vs. Florida Gators Past Games (Since 1995)
2010: Florida 34 – Georgia 31
2009: Florida 41 – Georgia 17
2008: Florida 49 – Georgia 10
2007: Georgia 42 – Florida 30
2006: Florida 21 – Georgia 14
2005: Florida 14 – Georgia 10
2004: Georgia 31 – Florida 24
2003: Florida 16 – Georgia 13
2002: Florida 20 – Georgia 13
2001: Florida 24 – Georgia 10
2000: Florida 34 – Georgia 23
1999: Florida 30 – Georgia 14
1998: Florida 38 – Georgia 7
1997: Georgia 37 – Florida 17
1996: Florida 47 – Georgia 7
1995: Florida 52 – Georgia 17

The Gators are definitely in a rebuilding mode as well this year. Head Coach Will Muschamp is bringing in an entirely new offensive system by using former Kansas City Chiefs Offensive Coordinator Charlie Weis. This is great news for QB John Brantley, who was lost trying to run the Urban Meyer, Tim Tebow type of offense. The question is whether a very, very young defense is going to be able to stop these Dawgs. We’re not overly optimistic. The good news is that there are two months of the season before this game comes up on the slate, but we’re not so sure that this season is going to really end up going the way of the orange and blue, especially if this game against the Bulldogs is lost after dominating this series for so many years.

2011-12 Top 25 College Football Games of the Year
#25 Pittsburgh Panthers @ West Virginia Mountaineers

The “Backyard Brawl” is always one of the biggest games of the season, and this year, it really could be the difference between which one of these teams ends up moving on to the Orange Bowl to play in the BCS. There is a lot of different flavor in this game this year though, as both teams have new head coaches to break in that will be playing in this rivalry for the very first time.

Pittsburgh Panthers @ West Virginia Mountaineers Picks & Info
Pittsburgh Panthers @ West Virginia Mountaineers Date: Friday, November 25th, 2011
Pittsburgh Panthers @ West Virginia Mountaineers Location: Mountaineer Field, Morgantown, WV
Pittsburgh Panthers @ West Virginia Mountaineers Spread: West Virginia Mountaineers -4.5

The biggest question for the Panthers is the style of offense that they are going to be running under Head Coach Todd Graham. Graham brought over the majority of his staff from Tulsa in the offseason, but it is clear that QB Tino Sunseri isn’t running the same offense that any of these Tulsa QBs have run in years past. That being said, the pace could be picked up quite a bit, and a team that averaged just 367.1 yards per game could be significantly improved. Watch out for RB Dion Lewis, who could be poised for a huge junior season after a year full of injuries and setbacks as a sophomore.

Pittsburgh Panthers vs. West Virginia Mountaineers Past Games (Since 1995)
2010: West Virginia 35 – Pittsburgh 10
2009: West Virginia 19 – Pittsburgh 16
2008: Pittsburgh 19 – West Virginia 15
2007: Pittsburgh 13 – West Virginia 9
2006: West Virginia 45 – Pittsburgh 27
2005: West Virginia 45 – Pittsburgh 13
2004: Pittsburgh 16 – West Virginia 13
2003: West Virginia 52 – Pittsburgh 31
2002: West Virginia 24 – Pittsburgh 17
2001: Pittsburgh 23 – West Virginia 13
2000: Pittsburgh 38 – West Virginia 28
1999: West Virginia 52 – Pittsburgh 21
1998: West Virginia 52 – Pittsburgh 14
1997: Pittsburgh 41 – West Virginia 38
1996: West Virginia 34 – Pittsburgh 0
1995: West Virginia 21 – Pittsburgh 0

For WVU, it’s all about the defense. This squad knows that it has the goods to shut down any offense that comes its way; after all, this unit did rank No. 4 in the country last year in scoring (13.5 PPG) and total defense (263.5 YPG). Offensively, the big issue is whether QB Geno Smith is really going to be able to pick up the slack or not. He threw for 2,763 yards last season, which really isn’t good enough for a QB that isn’t all that mobile. However, he only threw seven picks against 24 TDs, three of those scores of which came against U-Pitt last year.

Full List of Odds To Win The 2011 ACC Conference Can Be Found Below

Don’t be overly surprised if we end up seeing the exact two teams playing for the ACC Championship this season that we saw last year. That means the Virginia Tech Hokies (Current 2011 ACC Odds: 2.80 to 1 at 5Dimes Sportsbook) and the Florida State Seminoles (2011 ACC Lines: 1.65 to 1 at 5Dimes Sportsbook) probably have the best ACC odds on the board.

The best thing that these two teams have going for them is that they don’t play each other in the regular season, meaning both dodges the hardest game on the slate. V-Tech always seems to have a fantastic team under Head Coach Frank Beamer, who is one of the most underappreciated coaches in America. Florida State has a solid returning defense and should be getting great play out of new, yet experienced QB EJ Manuel. There are high hopes for both of these teams this year, and both think that they’re not only contenders for the ACC title, but contenders for the National Championship as well.

If there’s a team that could figure it out this year, it is the Clemson Tigers (Current Odds To Win The ACC: 7.25 to 1 at 5Dimes Sportsbook). The Tigers do host Florida State, where they have dominated this series in recent years. However, they just lost one of the best defensive players in the conference in DE DaQuan Bowers and will have a difficult time replacing him and his pass rushing skills. The team that is sure to hurt is the North Carolina State Wolfpack (Odds To Win ACC 2011: 26 to 1 at 5Dimes Sportsbook). Not only do the Wolfpack have to break in a new quarterback now that QB Russell Wilson was let out of his scholarship in the offseason, but Head Coach Tom O’Brien and company have to deal with a schedule that includes games at Florida State, at Boston College, and home against both North Carolina and Clemson. It’ll be a tough road this year for the Pack for sure.

2011-12 Top 25 College Football Games of the Year
#25 San Diego State Aztecs @ Michigan Wolverines

The Michigan Wolverines and the San Diego State Aztecs aren’t going to be putting on the biggest show of the year, as neither of these two are going to be National Championship contenders this year, but they are still clearly going to a ton of storylines, as former SDSU Head Coach Brady Hoke tries to take down his former team in his new maize and blue.

San Diego State Aztecs @ Michigan Wolverines Date: Saturday, September 24th, 2011
San Diego State Aztecs @ Michigan Wolverines Location: Michigan Stadium, Ann Arbor, MI
NCAA Football Lines: Michigan Wolverines -7

This is a year in which Michigan is expected to do a lot better now that the Big 10 has expanded to 12 teams. QB Denard Robinson is going to end up as a Heisman Trophy contender again this season, as he is going to end up putting up some gaudy statistics. He threw for 2,570 yards and rushed for 1,702 yards last year, and he really came out on nowhere to do so. Scoring isn’t an issue for Big Blue. It accounted for 489.1 yards per game a season ago and put up 32.8 points per game.

San Diego State Aztecs vs. Michigan Wolverines Past Games
2004: Michigan 24 – San Diego State 21

The issue is going to be whether there is going to be any defense to stop the San Diego State offense. Michigan really struggled last season, allowing a ton of points to a ton of teams. The Wolverines will be up against it going against an offense that averaged 458.1 yards per game last year. RB Ronnie Hillman is going to have his work cut out for him picking up the slack for an offense that must replace a number of departed players… not to mention its head coach from a year ago.

Week 14 of the 2010 college football campaign is going to get underway this weekend. Below you will find the current list of 2010 Week 14 NCAA football lines and spreads along with a breakdown of the Week 14 college football lines. Be sure to check out the free NCAA football picks from the expert handicappers at Bankroll Sports this weekend!

This is it! After a full season long college football picks, the road to the BCS finally stops this weekend, as two teams will be vying for spots in the BCS National Championship Game, while the other 118 teams just scramble to make bowls of lesser value.

The chase is really just down to four teams, as the Oregon Ducks and Auburn Tigers are in the driver’s seat, while the two teams waiting like piranhas for them to slip are the TCU Horned Frogs and Stanford Cardinal respectively.

Oregon has the easiest route to get to BCS glory. It has already won the Pac-10 this season and has absolutely no pressure on its back to get to one of the most illustrious bowl games, as it will go to the Rose Bowl to face the Wisconsin Badgers if it loses. However, you can bet that HC Chip Kelly’s club has no interest in the consolation prize this year, especially after winning in Pasadena last season. The Oregon State Beavers have a ton of motivation this season to beat their arch rivals, not just because this is the Civil War, one of the most brutal battles in the country, but because their bowl lives depend on it. After a season in which the Beavers have already suffered losses to three of the Top 10 teams in the nation, they have to face the land’s best. It might be playing at home in front of a raucous crowd at Reser Stadium, but Oregon State is a 16.5 point underdog.

Auburn has a significantly more difficult road to get to Glendale, as it has to take on a team that nearly beat it in the regular season, the South Carolina Gamecocks. We know that QB Cam Newton probably already has the Heisman Trophy wrapped up whether he accounts for ten touchdowns or ten turnovers in this one, but he is clearly going to have to play well if he wants to bring his Tigers to the BCS Championship Game. South Carolina allowed over 330 yards on the ground to these guys when they met at Jordan Hare Stadium, but in spite of that, it still allowed less than 100 yards in total per game in rushing. The Gamecocks have never won the SEC and have never been to a BCS bowl game before. A win sends them to the Sugar Bowl and would make friends for life out of the TCU Horned Frogs. Auburn knows that it will either be going to the title game or the Orange Bowl, but just like Oregon, there is no desire to settle for second best after a season in which virtually everything went right. The oddsmakers are showing some faith in the Gamecocks after their seven point loss on the road in September, lining them at +5.

Should Auburn lose on Saturday, the Arkansas Razorbacks will be shifted out of the BCS and most likely into the Capital One Bowl. Should the Tigers win, college football expert picks are projecting the Hogs in the Sugar Bowl, where they would face either the Stanford Cardinal or the Big East champion.

BCS bids will be handed out in the ACC, Big East, and Big XII as well this weekend, and you can bet that the five clashes surrounding these illustrious bowl bids are going to be hot and heavy, as none of these teams are going to be at large entrants into the BCS.

In the ACC, the Virginia Tech Hokies and Florida State Seminoles meet in the ACC Championship Game in Charlotte. These two teams have met here once before, with Florida State already having shocked the Hokies once for the conference crown. HC Jimbo Fisher just picked up the biggest win of his young coaching career against the Florida Gators last week, and if he nails this one down on Saturday, no one will be questioning whether it was the right time for HC Bobby Bowden to leave Tallahassee or not. The Hokies haven’t lost outright and are 9-1 ATS since losing to the James Madison Dukes way back in September, and they are four point favorites on Saturday night.

In a game running concurrently in primetime, the Nebraska Cornhuskers and Oklahoma Sooners will meet for one last time as conference rivals at Dallas Cowboys Stadium, and the stakes could not be higher. It was a tumultuous season for both in the Big XII, but just as most figured at the outset of the year, the two are fighting it out for a BCS bowl bid. The winner goes to the Fiesta Bowl, most likely to face the Stanford Cardinal. Without knowing what the state of the Nebraska quarterback situation is at this point, the oddsmakers really had no choice but to line the Sooners as 4.5 point favorites.

In the Big East, the Connecticut Huskies are just 60 minutes away from their first conference crown and their first trip to the BCS. They’ll take on the South Florida Bulls, where they are slight one point underdogs. If UConn drops on Saturday, the door will swing open for the West Virginia Mountaineers to make a return trip to the BCS. There is no doubt that the ‘Neers, three TD favorites against the Rutgers Scarlet Knights, would capitalize on this opportunity, but should they lose, it would all swing back to the Pittsburgh Panthers, who are two point road dogs against the Cincinnati Bears. Should all three lose, the Huskies would win the Big East and most likely head to the Orange Bowl.

Don’t forget about the MAC and Conference USA Championship Games either. In the MAC on Friday night, the Northern Illinois Huskies, a Top 25 team, take on the Miami Redhawks, where they are favored by 17.5 points. The Conference USA crown will be handed out on Saturday, where the UCF Knights are hosting the biggest game in the history of their new stadium, Bright House Network Stadium Field on Saturday afternoon. They are nine point favorites over the SMU Mustangs.

The biggest favorites of the weekend are the Boise State Broncos, who are just praying that they can make enough of a statement against the Utah State Aggies to make it to a BCS bowl game. The chances are very, very slim at best, but the men from the Smurf Turf are favored by 38 points regardless.

Week 13 of the 2010 college football campaign is going to get underway this weekend. Below you will find the current list of 2010 Week 13 NCAA football lines and spreads along with a breakdown of the Week 13 college football lines. Be sure to check out the free NCAA football picks from the expert handicappers at Bankroll Sports this weekend!

Rivalries are abound over the course of this weekend, and college football betting fans should be excited for the action! This week offers a slew of fantastic games on the slate, and we have all of the action broken down for all of the most important college football picks that you need to make for the week to come.

In the Big XII, the Texas A&M Aggies and Texas Longhorns are going to try to make some headway in the conference, but they have some totally different goals. The Aggies are trying to move up in the bowl picture in the conference, and perhaps even keep their slim BCS bowl dreams alive. Texas is going to need to win this game to make a bowl game, as it knows that this is its last chance to get back to .500 on the season. The Aggies are favored by 3.5 points.

Texas isn’t the only team in bowl trouble, though. The Georgia Bulldogs are 5-6 on the season, and they are going to try to take down the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets, who are 6-5. Both teams probably need this game though, as neither the SEC nor the ACC is going to be able to send all of its teams to bowl games in all likelihood. The visitors are playing without QB Josh Nesbitt, which is why the Dawgs are 12 point choices of the oddsmakers.

The Golden Boot will be handed out to the winner of the annual duel between the LSU Tigers and the Arkansas Razorbacks. The loser of this game is certain to be stuck with a second tier bowl game this year, while the winner is going to finish in no worse than a tie for second place in the SEC West and be eligible for a BCS at large bid. LSU knows it is going to the BCS and has a chance to play for a National Championship with a victory. However, with this game being played in Little Rock, QB Ryan Mallett and company are favored by 3.5 points.

In the Sunshine State, the Florida Gators and Florida State Seminoles are going to have at it on Saturday afternoon at Doak Campbell Stadium. UF knows that it is probably going to the Outback Bowl regardless of the outcome in this game, but the Noles are likely to really move up or down the ACC bowl ladder based upon the result. This is an incredibly important game for HC Jimbo Fisher, as he badly needs to beat the rival Gators, who have beaten the Noles six straight times. The Seminoles are 2.5 point favorites at home on Saturday afternoon.

FSU might be paying more attention to the duel in College Park, where the NC State Wolfpack are going to face the Maryland Terrapins. Should the Terps win this game, the Noles will be going to the ACC Championship Game to face the Virginia Tech Hokies, while a win for the Wolfpack will put them in the title game for the first time in school history. The visitors are 2.5 point favorites.

The Backyard Brawl should be a good one this year, as the West Virginia Mountaineers and Pitt Panthers are going to be fighting for the catbird’s seat in the Big East. The winner will have a shot to win the conference and crack the Top 25, while the loser is going to be in awful trouble for a quality bowl game. The hosts are favored by 2.5 points, but when the ‘total’ comes out, be careful about backing the ‘over’. There are a few high school games being played the day before and the weather might not be fantastic at Heinz Field.

The Big Ten is going to be a mess this weekend, as there are a number of opportunities for the Ohio State Buckeyes, Wisconsin Badgers, and Michigan State Spartans to make it to the Rose Bowl. Wisky is the team that probably is in the best shape, but it can’t do anything right now without the Buckeyes giving it a hand. If OSU loses to the Michigan Wolverines, the Spartans are going to be in the driver’s seat. The Badgers will win the conference though, if all three teams win. They are favored by 23 points at home against the Northwestern Wildcats. Ohio State is favored by 17 points over Big Blue, while the Spartans are slender two point choices at Happy Valley against the Penn State Nittany Lions.

The biggest favorites on the board this weekend in NCAA football betting action is the TCU Horned Frogs. They need to win this game against the New Mexico Lobos in fine fashion to have any chance of staying in front of the Boise State Broncos in the BCS rankings. The Lobos are 43.5 point pups on the afternoon, while Boise State, who is visiting the Nevada Wolf Pack, is favored by 13.5 points.

The Big XII South is down to just two teams, and Bedlam is going be a heck of a showdown this year in Stillwater. The Oklahoma Sooners have played down to the level of their competition all season long, but they are going to need this one in a big way to win the Big XII and to potentially set up a duel with the Nebraska Cornhuskers in the Big XII Championship Game. The Oklahoma State Cowboys are going to be getting in the way, though. They have had a fantastic season and might be primed for something huge. A ‘W’ as 2.5 point favorites at home will send the Pokes to the Big XII title game.

However, no weekend like this would be complete without discussing the game that people have been dying to make college football picks on all season long. The Alabama Crimson Tide, last year’s National Champions, are going to be hosting the Auburn Tigers, the No. 2 team in the country. Auburn really hasn’t done a lot on the road this year, as it has only played three games against subpar opponents. Its defense has really struggled for the majority of the year as well. However, the bottom line is that “0” sitting in the Tigers’ loss column right now, and regardless of how good the Crimson Tide really are, they have two losses and know that they need some help to go to a BCS bowl game. The oddsmakers are showing all sorts of faith in the hosts in this one, as they are 4.5 point favorites in spite of the fact that Auburn has so much more to play for in the Iron Bowl.
