The 2013 NCAA Tournament schedule winds down to just a few games left on the docket. We are here at the Final Four in Atlanta, where the Wichita State Shockers and the Louisville Cardinals are set to go to battle. Carl Hall Over/Under 6.5 Rebounds: Hall is one of the few Shockers that really hasn’t had a great NCAA Tournament. He has only averaged 11.8 points and 4.8 boards per game in the four games that the team has played in the dance, and he is going to be expected to do a heck of a lot more than that in this one. Louisville is a great rebounding team though, and it is going to be able to be the next team in line to really keep Hall from going off. The second-year man out of the Sunshine State has averaged 6.9 rebounds per game, so this seems like a relatively fair number, save for the fact that the Cardinals have really done a tremendous job on the glass all season long. Hall only had 11 points and six rebounds against the Pitt Panthers in the first round of this tournament, and we don’t see him doing any better than that in this one. Russ Smith Over/Under 6.5 Foul Shots Made: The one thing that we’ll say about Smith is that he is definitely aggressive. This isn’t your prototypical three-point shooter. Smith is going to go after the hoop, create contact, and go to the charity stripe as a result. Over the course of his last three games in the dance, he has made at least nine free throws. We have no reason not to believe that Smith won’t get to the line at least 10 times again in this one, and if he does that, he’ll make at least seven of the shots. This is one of the easier props on the board to bet here in the Final Four. Russ Smith Over 6.5 Free Throws Made (-120)

Peyton Siva Total Points Over/Under 10.5: Siva really took over in that game against the Duke Blue Devils after the injury to G Kevin Ware that shook the core of the Louisville nation and sports fans everywhere. Whereas most of the Cardinals were in shock, and some were in tears, Siva really took over as a leader. He finished that game with 16 points, and that’s more than good enough for us to get to this prop on Saturday night. Siva averages 9.9 points per game this season, but we think that he is going to be in for a good one when push comes to shove. Since the last game of the regular season, the senior has scored at least 11 points in five of his nine games. Make it six out of 10 in this one. Peyton Siva Over 10.5 Points (-125)

Chane Behanan Total Rebounds Over/Under 6.5: Behanan is Louisville’s leading rebounder, and he did have eight boards against the Dookies last weekend, but we have a real question as to what his role really is on this team right now for Head Coach Rick Pitino. For much of the regular season, Behanan ultimately played in at least 25-30 minutes every night. Here in the postseason, his numbers have slid just a bit because his minutes have slid just a bit. We aren’t so sure that Behanan is going to be on the court for more than perhaps 20 minutes, if even that in this game, and if that turns out to be the case, especially in a game where the tempo and the rebounding opportunities should be lower, Behanan probably won’t be reaching this rebounding total. We’re a bit surprised to see the Broncos favored by this much to get into the NCAA Tournament, knowing that they are one of the last few teams into the dance according to Joe Lunardi. Still, we think that playing in the Mountain West will be enough to get the boys from Boise into the dance.

The Blue Raiders went 28-5 and lost in the semifinals of the Sun Belt Tournament. However, they have an RPI of 29, the 11th best non-conference SOS in the nation, and at least 28 wins with fewer than six losses. Know how many teams have ever missed out on the tournament with those credentials? Zero. We have to think there’s better than a 50/50 shot that the Blue Raiders are headed to Dayton.

It’s going to be really tough to keep the Rebels out, even if they get beaten by Florida by 40 today. They are the one team in the SEC that really took care of the business that they needed to tend to in order to get into the dance. It’d be tough to imagine that a team that finishes the season 25-9 in the SEC would even have a shot of missing the dance. The SEC was weak this year. It wasn’t that weak.

La Salle Makes NCAA Tournament -170

The Explorers are the last team that Joe Lunardi has in his bracket, and many have this team as either the last or next to last team in the field. La Salle can send a thank you card out to the rest of the teams in the A-10. The power of this conference are going to get the Explorers in, though at this price, we’d probably have to pass. You don’t want to be laying -170 on a team that is the last squad in the dance.

Do we think that Virginia is going to get into the dance? We do not. However, this is a nice price on the Cavaliers. If they don’t get in, they’ll have the best BPI in the nation amongst teams that are in the NIT in all likelihood. A lot of their losses came early in the season when they were fighting injuries. There are some good wins, and even a few great ones, but that really doesn’t make up for it all as we see it. UVA will be close, and perhaps it will be the first team out. We still think that it is worth the risk at this price.

The Terps were probably just a few points away from dancing. They couldn’t quite figure out how to kill off the lead that North Carolina had in the last few minutes of the semifinals of the ACC Tournament, and as a result, they are going to be stuck as one of the high seeds in the NIT. We don’t see any way that Maryland is getting in, and we would be laying the -230.

The Volunteers might be the team looking forward to the SEC Championship Game the most. If Ole Miss wins that game, it’s going to be tougher to justify putting the Vols in the dance, as the SEC really doesn’t deserve four teams. If Florida wins though, the victory over the Gators looks that much stronger, and perhaps Tennessee gets the nod. It’s a vintage tossup between the Vols, Blue Raiders, and Explorers, two of the three of which will get in. We wouldn’t want any part of this prop bet.

We have seen the Selection Committee make some wild picks for the dance in the past, but this one would be to bizarre. The Golden Eagles literally don’t have a single win against a good team this year; winless against the RPI Top 50. You’re not going to get into the dance, even with this crazy field, without one great victory to fall back on.

It’s easy to suggest that there is at least a one in four shot of the Wildcats getting into the NCAA Tournament, just based upon name recognition alone. However, unless F Nerlens Noel is going to pull a Willis Reed and get back on the court, the sad facts aren’t avoidable. UK is 4-4 in its last eight games, and the last of those games was a crushing defeat at the hands of a Vandy team that finished the season below .500. If UK gets in, it’s name and name alone that gets it there.

There’s just no chance here whatsoever. The Minutemen aren’t even going to sniff the NCAA Tournament after losing to VCU and turning the ball over 22 times on Saturday.

At least there’s some intrigue here. Alabama doesn’t have much in the way of even decent wins, but it doesn’t have a bad loss either. Losing to Florida by 10 in the SEC Semifinals wasn’t the end of the world, but that was a game that the Tide really needed to win. We think that this might be one of the last teams being considered to get into the field. Alabama won’t likely get in, but we could see it showing up on the line at least one out of five times. It might be worth a lottery ticket play.

We are back with another set of great college basketball prop bets courtesy of Bovada Sportsbook, and today, we are taking a look at the Final Four prop bets on the board for the clash between the Ohio State Buckeyes and the Kansas Jayhawks in the Big Easy!

William Buford Total Points Over 13.5
Has Buford had the best NCAA Tournament in the world? Of course not. That being said, he is probably going to have a heck of a lot easier time getting open on the perimeter, knowing that Kansas is probably going to do a lot of double teaming of the big boys that get in the point. Buford has the potential to be a deadly shooter, especially from long range, and we like the prospects of both he and Aaron Craft coming up with some big games when push comes to shove against a team that is going to try to focus in on the defense from the inside to the outside and not the other way around.

Jeff Withey Total Blocks Over 3.5
In the Kentucky/Louisville clash, we went with the ‘under’ in blocked shots for Anthony Davis, but in this case, we think that Withey is the right play to get at least four rejections. He is going to be challenged quite a bit on the inside, especially if he is the one that is matched up more often with Jared Sullinger than Thomas Robinson is. Withey has really come on strong as one of the best defensive players, not just in the Big XII, but in the country as a whole, and he has most certainly proven it with his 20 blocks thus far in four games here in the tourney. The last team that tried to come to the inside against Withey on a regular basis with massively undersized big men was the NC State Wolfpack, and the big man swatted away 10 shots. We don’t need 10 this time around, but Sullinger and Deshaun Thomas are definitely giving up a ton in the height department to what Withey brings to the table.

Aaron Craft (-0.5 assists) vs. Tyshawn Taylor
Both Craft and Taylor are veteran players that have a lot of experience here in the NCAA Tournament over the years. That being said, Taylor still looks like a man that is pressing, and it is becoming clear to us that he would rather shoot the ball than become a major distributor. Granted, he averaged the exact same 4.7 assists per game that Craft did this year, but in the dance thus far, Taylor has just a total of 15 assists, while Craft has 23. In the end, the Buckeyes have the better point guard on both sides of the court, and not only will Craft prove to be the man that keeps the ball out of Taylor’s hands, but he will also be the one that gets the job done on the offensive side of the court as well.

Bovada Sportsbook presents another great set of NCAA Tournament Final Four props today, and we are going to be looking at some of those great Final Four props on the board for the game pitting the arch rival Louisville Cardinals and Kentucky Wildcats against each other.

Peyton Siva Over 15.5 Points + Assists
Siva certainly didn’t have the game of his life when he played against these Wildcats the first time around this year, coming up with just eight points and four assists. However, it seems as though the better he plays, the more that we end up seeing the Cardinals win. His numbers aren’t always all that impressive, but Siva has had at least nine points in six of his last eight games, and we think that he can do that again versus Marquis Teague, who has struggled at times on the defensive side of the court in the dance. Siva has at least five assists in seven straight, and he is likely to at least flirt with the idea of a double-double in the Final Four.

Anthony Davis Blocks Under 4.5
It seems to be a bit ballsy to want to back Davis’ under in blocks, knowing that he has already come up with 174 rejections this season. He had seven blocks when these two teams met on New Year’s Eve, and he had six more against the Baylor Bears in the Elite 8. That being said, we just don’t know if in the end, the Cardinals are going to challenge Davis all that much in this one. Sure, the talented frosh is going to send a few shots flying, but to get five blocks in a game like this one just seems to be a bit much against a team that is generally awfully wise with the basketball.

What we have to remember about this game from New Year’s Eve is that there were just seven three-point baskets that were made over the course of the whole game. Two of those came in the dying 10 seconds with Russ Smith knocking down meaningless shots. Miller is a senior, and he hasn’t been shy about taking shots as the shot clock winds down. However, we just don’t think that there are going to be that many long range shots that go down in this game, and we think that all of the players on either side that we can get under their totals, we would be willing to take, knowing that we are probably going to win more of these than we lose.

Our NCAA Tournament picks continue this weekend with a look at the odds to win the Final Four MVP. There are a slew of big time players that are going to be in the running for one of the most illustrious individual prizes in college basketball, and here at Bankroll Sports, we are making our Final Four predictions on the players to watch.

We said way back at the beginning of this tournament that the man we were going to be watching out for was the Kentucky Wildcats’ Anthony Davis (Odds To Win NCAA Tournament MVP: 3 to 1 @ SportBet Sportsbook). Davis has consistently been the man to watch out for that Kentucky always feeds the ball to, and against a very athletic Baylor Bears outfit last week in the Elite 8, he had 18 points, 11 rebounds, and six blocked shots. There isn’t a bigger defensive force in the country than this one, and it is going to be hard to ignore a man that has this much dominance on both sides of the ball. If Kentucky is to win the National Championship, save for perhaps Doron Lamb, it is going to be hard to justify picking any of the other players to win the Final Four MVP.

That being said, we were happy to know at the beginning of this tournament that we were also on the bandwagon of the Kansas Jayhawks’ Thomas Robinson (NCAA Tournament MVP Odds: 8 to 1 @ Bovada Sportsbook). His odds have been cut in half now that the Jayhawks are here in the Final Four, but there is no doubt that Robinson and his double-double motor are going to be candidates for this award as long as they win it all. Tyshawn Taylor might make for an interesting pick as well, knowing that he was finally able to put together a great game in the Elite 8, but in the end, there probably won’t be a game in the Final Four in which Robinson goes for less than 15 and 10, and if that turns out to be the case, it is going to be hard to ignore him as the MOP of the tourney.

There are a number of players that are down the line that we never really saw coming as potential Final Four MVPs as well. The Ohio State Buckeyes aren’t a huge shock to be in this position, but instead of backing Jared Sullinger, we are going to take a very close look at William Buford (March Madness MVP Odds: 18 to 1 @ SportBet Sportsbook). Thus far in the tourney, Buford has been a bit inconsistent. He only had four points against the Cincinnati Bearcats, and he only has one game with more than 13 points in the tournament, that coming in the first round against the Loyola Maryland Greyhounds. Buford is the best three-point shooter on the team though, and he has consistently averaged right around 14 points per game for his entire career. This is a bad draw down the stretch for the Buckeyes, as they have to take on two teams one way or the other that have a lot of big time bigs on the defensive side of the court, and if they are going to win it all, the guards are going to have to make the difference. We don’t see OSU beating Kansas without a huge game out of Buford of at least 20 points, and that would make him a tremendous MVP candidate should the Buckeyes cut down the nets on Monday night.

Not many are giving the Louisville Cardinals all that much of a chance to win the whole enchilada this year, but if they do, you know that Russ Smith (Odds To Win March Madness MVP: 20 to 1 @ SportBet Sportsbook) is going to have to be the man that does the most damage. When you look at the averages for Smith this year, nothing is all that impressive. He put up just 11.6 points, 2.5 boards, and 2.0 assists per game. He is a great defensive player, averaging over two steals per game as well. However, what you notice are the big games that he tends to explode for every now and again. In just 22 minutes against the Florida Gators, Smith had 19 points off of the bench, and it was the third straight game in which he scored double digits in spite of the fact that he hasn’t played more than 23 minutes in the entire tourney. Smith played for 27 minutes against Kentucky the first time around, and he scored 30 of the team’s 62 points. It’s going to come in streaks for Smith, and he is really the only man in the Final Four that we can see coming off of the bench and winning the Final Four MVP award.

The time is here for Boynton to really step up and have a great game. He has been wildly inconsistent in this tourney, but he hasn’t been afraid to jack up the three point shot when he has the chance to either. Remember that this junior knocked down 108 triples on the season, and he shot 41.1 percent from downtown. Sure, things have been rough for the most part in the tourney, and we know that the Louisville defense is going to be stifling to say the least, but in the end, we think that all of the penetration and kicking out to the perimeter is going to give Boynton all of the opportunities in the world to get to these three made triples.

Total Points and Rebounds for Patric Young Under 16.5
In all likelihood, Young is going to draw Gorgui Dieng in this game, and if that turns out to be his defensive assignment, there had better be a heck of a lot of rebounds that this forward gets if he wants to reach this number. As it is, Young only had 10.2 points and 6.4 boards per game this year, and we have to remember that he hasn’t had the greatest games here in the dance either. Sure, he was able to go off for 21 and nine against the Kentucky Wildcats a few weeks ago, but he also has had a total of just 26 points and rebounds combined in the last two games. Dieng is going to be too tough of a draw for Young to get his stats on in this one.

Total Free Throw Shots Made By Peyton Siva Under 2.5
This is a prop that just doesn’t make all that much sense to us. Siva only averages getting to the charity stripe 3.2 times per game, and though he was a 73.0 percent foul shooter this year, that number is in the high 60s for his career. So, what needs to happen here to beat us is that Siva needs to get to the foul line a lot more often than he normally does, and he needs to hit at least one more from the line than he normally does to beat us. Laying -150 in this case just doesn’t seem like it is that unrealistic to do for a man that only made a grand total of 84 free throws on the season.

We know that there are some big time games over the course of the NCAA Tournament, and there are a slew that are decided with shots that either miss or are made right at the end of games. The term, “buzzer beater,” is tough, though. The shot has to go in with 0:00 on the clock, and that isn’t always the case. There will probably be one over the course of the 63 games, and at 19/10, we’d rather back that than more than that at some other prices or zero at 5/7. Many think that the Syracuse Orange are the team that is going to be the top seed blanked first. That being said, we think that it is the Michigan State Spartans that will be the first to drop out of the dance. The Spartans have the toughest No. 16 seed matchup, and if there is going to be a top seed drop for the first time ever in the Round of 64, this is going to be the one to do it, because the Long Island Blackbirds aren’t your averaged No. 16 seed. Also, MSU has to go up against either the Memphis Tigers or the Saint Louis Billikens in the second round, and either way, that is an upset that could be waiting to happen.

How Man #14 Seeds Will Advance From The Round Of 64 in the NCAA Tournament?
Just consider this fact: The Belmont Bruins are only +3.5 against the Georgetown Hoyas… This is a terrible spread to say the least, and it is one that we are going to take full advantage of. At least one of the #14s is probably going to end up winning a game, as all four of them (whether the fourth be Iona or BYU) are capable of pulling off upsets against teams that we think are tremendously overrated.
