The #20 ranked Utah Utes will be looking for a little payback when they travel to Corvallis to take on the Oregon State Beavers. The Beavers defeated the Utes last year 51-48 in overtime. the Utes are coming off a huge win at UCLA in week 6.

Saturday, October 18th

#4 Baylor (-8, 79.5) at West Virginia 10:00 pm EST Fox Sports 1

The Baylor Bears travel to Morgantown to take on the West Virginia Mountaineers in a key Big 12 tilt. both teams are coming off huge come from behind wins, with West Virginia winning at Texas Tech, while Baylor defeated TCU. It may take an act of god for it not to go over the total.

#14 Kansas State at #11 Oklahoma (-7.5, 58) 12:00 pm EST ESPN

Jake Waters and the #14 Kansas State Wildcats travel to Norman to take on the Oklahoma Sooners. The last time these two teams met was last year, where Oklahoma won in Manhatten 41-31.

#8 Michigan State (-16, 59) at Indiana 3:30 pm EST ESPN

One of the best defenses in the country in Michigan State will travel to Bloomington to take on the high powered offense of Indiana. The meeting comes at a bad time for the Hoosiers, as quarterback Nate Sudfeld was lost for the season with a shoulder injury.

#21 Texas A&M #3 Alabama (-10.5, 61.5) 3:30 pm EST CBS

The #21 Texas A&M Aggies head to Tuscaloosa to take on the Alabama Crimson Tide. The home field has not mattered the past two years between these two schools, as the visitor has won the past two matchups.

#15 Oklahoma State at #12 TCU (-9, 61.5) 4:00 pm EST FOX Sports 1

The TCU Horned Frogs are coming off consecutive games, and will need to be focused against an under the radar oklahoma State Squad. In the past two weeks, TCU has defeated Oklahoma, and lost to Baylor in the final seconds.

Tennessee at #3 Ole Miss (-16.5, 46) 7:00 pm EST ESPN

The Ole Miss Rebels are coming off two monumental wins over Alabama and Texas A&M. They’ll try to avoid the letdown when they take on the Tennessee Volunteers. If Tennessee can play the way they did against Georgia, this could be a game.

#5 Notre Dame at #2 Florida State (No Line) 8:00 pm EST ABC

In what will be the marquee game of the week, the Notre Dame Fighting Irish take on the Florida State Seminoles. There is currently no word on the status of quarterback Jameis Winston, who might be facing a possible suspension. The last time Winston was suspended, the Seminoles escaped with a 23-17 overtime win against Clemson.

#23 Stanford (-3, 54) at #17 Arizona State 10:30 pm EST ESPN

The Stanford Cardinal will look to rebound from a loss at Notre Dame when they take on the Arizona State Sun Devils in a PAC-12 tilt. The Sun Devils are coming off a huge win over USC due to a last minute hail mary touchdown.

Virginia Tech was riding high after their upset win at Ohio State. They came back down to earth last weekend after a 28-21 upset loss to East Carolina. The Virginia Tech defense will now have to focus as they have the triple option attack of Georgia Tech to deal with.

Florida at #3 Alabama (-14) 3:30 PM CBS

The Florida Gators head to Tuscaloosa to take on the #3 ranked Alabama Crimson Tide. Florida escaped with a 36-30 win in triple overtime. The Crimson Tide has taken care of business since being tested by West Virginia in week 1, winning their last 2 games by a combined score of 93-10.

Virginia at #21 BYU (-15) 3:30 PM ESPN

The Virginia Cavaliers, fresh off their upset win of Louisville, will head to Provo, Utah to take on Taysom Hill and the #20 ranked BYU Cougars. This game will feature two of the better defensive units in the nation.

Jameis Winston passed for 444 yards and 3 touchdowns in a 51-14 win at Clemson last season

Mississippi State at #8 LSU 7:00 PM ESPN

The Mississippi State Bulldogs will have upset on their mind when they take on LSU from Baton Rouge, LA. LSU’s defense has not given up a score since their win against Wisconsin, and will look to replicate the 59-26 drubbing that they dealt the Bulldogs last year.

#4 Oklahoma (-7) at West Virginia 7:30 PM FOX

In what should be one of the better games of the weekend, the #4 ranked Oklahoma Sooners head to Morgantown to take on the improved West Virginia Mountaineers. It should be a stiff road test for the Sooners, as they will be in a hostile environment. Oklahoma won last year’s meeting 16-7, in Norman.

#22 Clemson at #1 Florida State  (-20) 8:00 PM ABC

Last year the Florida State Seminoles put the rest of college football on notice as they dominated Clemson on the Tigers’ home turf 51-14. The Tigers will need a better effort than what they showed in week 1, or it could result in the same outcome in Tallahassee.

Miami (FL) at #24 Nebraska (-7) 8:00 PM ESPN

The Nebraska Cornhuskers have been somewhat inconsistent this season. They had an impressive 55-7 win in week 1, and then needed a miracle play in week 2 to defeat McNeese State. The Miami Hurricanes should provide a stiff test, as they’ve looked a lot better in the past two weeks compared to their road opener loss to Louisville.

The #8 Baylor Bears have been installed as 34 point favorites against Buffalo out of the MAC. It was made official that Bryce Petty will play, yet last week it didn’t matter as they rolled to a 70-6 victory over Northwestern St with backup Seth Russell. Buffalo is coming off a 47-38 loss to Army last weekend.

Saturday, September 13

West Virginia at Maryland (-3.5, 57) 12:00 PM EST Big Ten Network

West Virginia and Maryland meet up in a somewhat intense rivalry on Saturday. Randy Edsall has given the Mountaineers trouble in years past, yet this year’s WVU squad is talented, and could only add to the Big Ten’s recent struggles.

East Carolina at #17 Virginia Tech (-11.5, 53.5) 12:00 PM EST ESPN

The Virginia Tech Hokies, fresh off their upset of Ohio State, will look to go 3-0 against the talented East Carolina Pirates. East Carolina may have lost last week, but were competitive against South Carolina. Virginia Tech should be on upset alert as East Carolina can most certainly put some points on the board.

UCF at #20 Missouri (-10, 54.5) 12:00 PM EST SEC Network

Central Florida Knights have had some time to think about their loss to Penn State, and will now take on the Missouri Tigers. Missouri was not looked at to do much this year, but they have taken care of business at 2-0 behind quarterback Maty Mauck.

#21 Louisville (-6.5, 48.5) at Virginia 12:30 PM EST ESPN3

Virginia might be the surprise of the ACC this year, and their defense will look to give Louisville an unfriendly welcome into the conference. Bobby Petrino is off to a good start in Louisville, as they beat Miami in week 1, and thumped Murray State 66-21 last weekend.

#6 Georgia (-5.5, 60) at #24 South Carolina 3:30 PM EST CBS

Georgia is a team that has a lot of people talking as one of the top teams in the country led by Heisman candidate Todd Gurley. The Bulldogs will travel to Columbia to take on the 1-1 South Carolina Gamecocks, who had high expectations before they lost their home opener to Texas A&M.

Tennessee at #4 Oklahoma (-20.5, 54.5) 8:00 PM EST ABC

Oklahoma has rolled over the competition thus far, and they will get to show the nation how good they are when they host Tennessee on Saturday night. QB Trevor Knight leads an offense that averages 50 ppg against a Tennessee defense that has yielded only 13 ppg.

#12 UCLA (-7, 49.5) vs. Texas 8:00 PM EST FOX from AT&T Stadium, Arlington, TX

It’s no secret that Texas is struggling, and now there is news that quarterback David Ash is out for indefinitely. They’ll have their work cut out for them when they take on the UCLA Bruins, who are loaded with talent, yet have failed to impress thus far in the season.

The Pitt Panthers and Boston College Eagles open up ACC Conferenceplay on Friday night. Both teams had easy wins in week 1. Boston College defeated UMass 30-7, while Pitt destroyed Delaware 62-0. This will mark the first time these schools have met in ACC play, and the first time they’ve faced each other since 2004, a 20-17 Pitt victory.

Saturday, September 6th

#4 Oklahoma (-24) at Tulsa 12:00 pm EST

The #4 ranked Oklahoma Sooners will travel to Tulsa to take on the Golden Hurricane. The Sooners took care of business last week, as the defense put forth a dominating effort in a 48-16 win. Tulsa got some revenge against Tulane, winning 38-31 in double overtime in what was one of the more entertaining games of week 1.

Florida Atlantic at #2 Alabama (-41) 12:00PM EST 

The Alabama Crimson Tide will take on Florida Atlantic in their home opener.  Alabama had their hands full with West Virginia, winning 33-23. Florida Atlantic was not as successful last weekend, losing at Nebraska 55-7, where they only registered 13 first downs against the Cornhuskers.

#15 USC at #11 Stanford (-3.5) 3:30 PM EST

The #15 USC Trojans take on the #11 Stanford Cardinal in what will be a pivotal matchup in the PAC-12. Stanford has beaten USC in 5 of the last 7 meetings. With Steve Sarkisian at the helm for Stanford, it can only make this rivalry even better. Both teams won their week 1 games rather easily, with Stanford defeating UC-Davis 45-0, and USC defeating Fresno State 52-13. USC unveiled a new up-tempo offense last week, but Stanford’s defense has been known to deal with it quite well in the past. This should be a great matchup.

#8 Michigan State at #3 Oregon (-13) 7:30 PM EST

A fast paced up-tempo offense takes on one of the better defenses in the nation as the Oregon Ducks host the Michigan State Spartans in what will be the marquee game of the weekend. Oregon has had its share of difficulties against stellar defenses in prior seasons, and the defending Rose Bowl champions out of the Big Ten have just that. National championship implications will most definitely be at stake in this one.

Michigan (-17.5) vs #17 Notre Dame 7:30 pm EST

The Michigan Wolverines take on the Notre Dame Fighting Irish in one of the better rivalries in college football. The Wolverines have won 4 out of the last 5 matchups, and won last year’s matchup 41-30.  Michigan didn’t overlook Appalachian State last weekend, winning 52-14. Everett Golson made his return to last weekend, leading the Irish to a 48-17 victory over Rice.

Key #1: Johnny Football has to play like a senior
This is a tremendously and painfully obvious statement to make in this game. QB Johnny Manziel was remarkable this year, and he had to be the Heisman Trophy winner as a result. You don’t just throw for 3,419 yards, rush for 1,181 yards, and account for 43 total touchdowns in the SEC West without winning the Heisman, especially when your team goes 10-2 and is the only team to beat the Alabama Crimson Tide this year. Remember too, that it isn’t just about what Manziel does with his arm or his legs that makes a difference. He also has to be a heady player that makes the right decisions with the ball. Head Coach Kevin Sumlin puts a lot of stock into his quarterback making plays at the line, making the right audible, making the right throw, and knowing when to keep it and when to hand it off on the option. Remember that RB Ben Malena, RB Christine Michael, and RB Trey Williams combined this year for 1,504 rushing yards and 23 TDs to add to what Manziel was able to do. But if Manziel doesn’t bring his best game to the table in this, his 13th game of his career, the Sooners are going to probably get the better of him.

Key #2: Oklahoma can’t let this game get up to a frantic pace
Oklahoma did win all of its shootouts this year, and the two games it lost were kept to a snail’s pace against the Kansas State Wildcats and the Notre Dame Fighting Irish, but it can’t let this one get into a shootout. QB Landry Jones made too many mistakes with the football this year (10 picks) for him to have to ultimately put the ball in the air 60 or 70 times against the Aggies. Yes, Texas A&M’s defense didn’t have a single player log more than two picks for the entire season, but we just don’t trust that Jones can avoid making the big turnover to give A&M the huge advantage when push comes to shove. Remember that the Baylor Bears, West Virginia Mountaineers, and Oklahoma State Cowboys all pushed the Sooners down the stretch in big time Big XII games, and this is essentially just another game just like these, knowing that these two teams shared the Big XII together through last season.

Key #3: The Aggies have to man up in the red zone on defense
Texas A&M had a great red zone team this year, scoring on 85.5% of its trips inside the opposition’s 20 yard line. It became a heck of a lot easier to do just that with Manziel on the field. However, the Aggies are really going to have a problem in this one stopping the Sooners when they’re inside the 20. Oklahoma ranked 11th in the country, scoring on 89.1% of all of its red zone trips this year. A lot of that was thanks to the play of QB Blake Bell, who rushed for 11 TDs this year. Some of that was due to RB Damien Williams as well, and QB Landry Jones was generally lethal when he got inside the 20 and always has been over the course of his whole career. That’s why this is going to be such a tough draw for an A&M defense that hasn’t always been at its best. If this is the team that lined up toe-to-toe with Alabama and came up with the stop on the goal line that changed the course of the entire season across the whole country, the Aggies can win this game. If not though, this could be a long one for the men from College Station.

Texas knows that it has to get some better play out of its quarterback position this year if it hopes to win the Red River Shootout. QB David Ash and QB Case McCoy are both trying to become the starter for the Horns this year, though it does feel like Ash has the edge having taken every snap of the Holiday Bowl at the end of last campaign. The rest of this team really feels like a Top 10 team in the country this year. The offensive line returners three starters, and the receivers and running backs are still quite deep. The defense is going to be all over the place as well, as even though former DC Will Muschamp has left for Gainesville, there are still a heck of a lot of holdovers that still have that mean streak and really command a lot of attention.

Oklahoma could be up for a big time season, knowing that QB Landry Jones is back for his senior season. The offensive line in front of him is going to be awesome as always, and the running back corps should still be solid. Defensively, Head Coach Bob Stoops has had some issues in recent years, but he is hoping that his eight returning starters are able to step up to the challenge and get the job done. The secondary has really been under scrutiny. DB Demontre Hurst is the senior leader of the group, and he is going to be challenged in this game specifically against a great set of Texas wide receivers. In the end though, against a sometimes suspect Texas offense, the OU offense could get the job done by itself as long as Jones ends up not falling on his face.

Texas vs. Oklahoma Free Picks^^: The Sooners have had a strong run of games against the Longhorns in recent years, and we just don’t see how that’s going to be stopping in this one. Oklahoma and Texas are both improved teams, but in the end, it is OU that has the ability to win the National Championship, and this isn’t going to be the game that trips the men in crimson and cream up.

The Cowboys are going to know at this point in the year whether they are going to have a realistic chance of competing with the Sooners or not. RB Joseph Randle was asked to do a lot last year in pass protection and in receiving the football, but this time around, he is probably going to asked to be a lot more of a pure rusher in a fast paced offense. We know that QB Clint Chelf is going to have all the pressure in the world on his back to be able to keep up with the powerful offenses and experienced quarterbacks that the Big XII has to offer, and this is going to be his biggest challenge yet, assuming that he can nail down the starting job once and for all. He does have a good defense working for him, and though this unit has to be on the field quite a bit with the speed at which the offense operates, it is a real question as to whether the eight returning starters can really pick up the slack, especially against what is perceived to be such a potent offense.

Perhaps the reason that QB Landry Jones came back to school for his senior year was the idea of beating Okie State and winning the BCS National Championship. The two won’t necessarily go hand in hand, but after last year’s embarrassment in Stillwater, a game that was supposed to be close from the get go, you know that Jones and his offensive mates are going to be psyched up and ready to go for this one. The Sooners have 15 returners between the offensive and defensive side of the ball, and including basically the entire offensive line, which is going to be chock full of NFL stars after this year is over. Basically the entire secondary is back, too. Though that sounds like a good thing, we are still wary though, as we know that this unit struggled in a big time way in 2010 and 2011, and it will have to step it up in a big time way to be able to win this game against a game set of Cowboys.

Oklahoma State @ Oklahoma Free Picks^^: Now that this series is back to being in Norman this year, we really think that the Cowboys are going to be in for a real beating. The Sooners should be National Championship contenders this year, and this is the game that they are going to have to win to set themselves up to be in a position to get the job done. Jones and his experienced set of returners should be able to overwhelm Okie State in what will be the last home game for at least 11 (and potentially many more) of the team’s 22 starters. The Sooners take this by at least two touchdowns.
