There are still a slew of drivers that are trying to get in the NASCAR playoffs, and several know that they need to win this race to get into the Chase. Paul Menard, Marcos Ambrose, and David Ragan all know that a win at Richmond puts them in the playoffs, and AJ Allmendinger likely knows the same thing. However, we have to think that the drivers at the top are going to be the drivers that come to the top this week as well. Case in point, Jimmie Johnson (Odds to Win the Wonderful Pistachios 400: 9 to 1 at 5Dimes Sportsbook). The No. 48 was considered to be down and out over the course of the last few months, but he has stormed back in July and August and is now atop the points standings and in prime position to capture yet another Sprint Cup title. He has two wins here at this track in the past four years, and he really could be the man to get the job done on Saturday.

However, the man to win the last two races here at Richmond is Denny Hamlin (Current Wonderful Pistachios 400 Odds: 4.50 to 1 at 5Dimes Sportsbook), and he is clearly the bubble boy right now for the Sprint Cup playoffs. Hamlin knows that he is safe as long as none of the names listed below wins this race, but now that he knows he can’t get into the Top 10, he has to lock down this race to get the job done. Coming in second won’t necessarily cut it. Only a win will absolutely guarantee that Hamlin is good for the Chase for the Sprint Cup.

List Of Past Wonderful Pistachios 400 Champions (Since 2000)
2010 Wonderful Pistachios 400 Winner: Denny Hamlin
2009 Wonderful Pistachios 400 Winner: Denny Hamlin
2008 Wonderful Pistachios 400 Winner: Jimmie Johnson
2007 Wonderful Pistachios 400 Winner: Jimmie Johnson
2006 Wonderful Pistachios 400 Winner: Kevin Harvick
2005 Wonderful Pistachios 400 Winner: Kurt Busch
2004 Wonderful Pistachios 400 Winner: Jeremy Mayfield
2003 Wonderful Pistachios 400 Winner: Ryan Newman
2002 Wonderful Pistachios 400 Winner: Matt Kenseth
2001 Wonderful Pistachios 400 Winner: Ricky Rudd
2000 Wonderful Pistachios 400 Winner: Jeff Gordon

The favorite to win this short track race on Saturday though, is the man who has the most wins this year, Kyle Busch (Wonderful Pistachios 400 Lines: 3.70 to 1 at 5Dimes Sportsbook). Busch did fall out of the points lead thanks to a 23rd place finish last week at the AdvoCare 500. However, we know that he is as dangerous as could be with an average finish of 11.3 in his last 20 races. Busch already has eight wins on short tracks in his career in 40 tries, and this could very well be victory No. 9.

NASCAR betting fans: We’re back with another fantastic race this weekend at Atlanta Motor Speedway, as 43 of the best drivers in the world look to make for great AdvoCare 500 picks!

2011 AdvoCare 500 Odds, Picks & Info
2011 AdvoCare 500 Date: Sunday, September 4th, 2011

2011 AdvoCare 500 Location: Atlanta Motor Speedway, Atlanta, GA

Defending AdvoCare 500 Champion: Tony Stewart
2011 AdvoCare 500 TV Coverage – Network: ESPN

Contrary to popular belief, we aren’t going to be backing Brad Keselowski this week once again even though he now has a whopping four straight Top 3 finishes including a pair of victories. However, the man that he is trying to run down for the last automatic qualifying spot in the Chase for the Sprint Cup might be an interesting NASCAR pick this week. Tony Stewart (Odds to Win the AdvoCare 500: 13 to 1 at 5Dimes Sportsbook) won this race last year, and he badly, badly needs a victory. Two solid finishes should keep him in the Chase, but one dud and he could be in some trouble. A win would remove all doubt about his entry into the postseason. Stewart has showed some signs of improvement, but this is too important of a race for him to fail on. 13 to 1 is a fantastic price on the NASCAR betting lines.

Points leader Jimmie Johnson (Current AdvoCare 500 Odds: 8.25 to 1 at 5Dimes Sportsbook) is one of the favorites in this race, and many expect that he is going to start to get on a roll here for his annual run at the Sprint Cup. With five straight titles under his belt, we aren’t going to argue with the No. 48 Chevy until he is beaten. JJ does have three wins in 19 tries at Atlanta Motor Speedway, but perhaps more impressive are his 10 Top 5s and 12 Top 10s in those races. You can surely count on the fact that the Lowe’s Chevrolet is going to be right in the thick of the pack when this race is coming to its conclusion.

List Of Past AdvoCare 500 Champions (Since 2000)
2010 AdvoCare 500 Winner: Tony Stewart
2009 AdvoCare 500 Winner: Kasey Kahne

2005 AdvoCare 500 Winner: Carl Edwards
2004 AdvoCare 500 Winner: Jimmie Johnson

2002 AdvoCare 500 Winner: Kurt Busch
2001 AdvoCare 500 Winner: Bobby Labonte
2000 AdvoCare 500 Winner: Jerry Nadeau

A driver that is trying to make one last push at the Chase for the Sprint Cup is Kasey Kahne (AdvoCare 500 Lines: 22 to 1 at 5Dimes Sportsbook). Kahne won this race in 2009, and he definitely has been a better form in these last two weeks, finishing seventh and 11th respectively. Kahne needs a win and some help to get into the Chase for the Sprint Cup, but it’s clear that second place finishes aren’t good enough to get the job done. He’s up to 15th after being long since forgotten about a few weeks ago, but without a ‘W’, Kahne’s season might be over with. Don’t be shocked if he makes it to Victory Lane on Sunday.

NASCAR betting fans: We’re back with another fantastic race this weekend at Bristol Motor Speedway, as 43 of the best drivers in the world look to make for great Irwin Tools Night Race picks!

2011 Irwin Tools Night Race Odds, Picks & Info
2011 Irwin Tools Night Race Date: Saturday, August 27th, 2011
2011 Irwin Tools Night Race Green Flag Time: 7:46 ET
2011 Irwin Tools Night Race Location: Bristol Motor Speedway, Bristol, TN
2011 Irwin Tools Night Race Favorite: Kyle Busch (+300)
Defending Irwin Tools Night Race Champion: Kyle Busch
2011 Irwin Tools Night Race TV Coverage – Network: ABC

When you look at the NASCAR betting odds in this one, there is absolutely no choice but to look long and hard at Kyle Busch (Odds to Win the Irwin Tools Night Race: 3 to 1 at JustBet Sportsbook). Busch might not have a real license any longer because of his tiny little speeding ticket, but he definitely can still run here at Bristol, a track that he has dominated in his career. If he were to take the checkered flag in this one, it would be the fourth time in five races at Bristol that he won, including earlier this year at the Jeff Byrd 500. Busch has just really taken over at short tracks in his career, winning eight times. He’s the NASCAR points leader right now, and he is going to want to claim yet another win on the season to give him some bonus points heading into the Chase for the Sprint Cup.

Carl Edwards (Current Irwin Tools Night Race Odds: 8.50 to 1 at 5Dimes Sportsbook) is due to kick into gear one of these moments, and this might be the perfect race for him to do just that. The No. 99 Ford has won the Irwin Tools Night Race twice in 2007 and 2008, and he really could use a ‘W’ to get back in the saddle before NASCAR’s version of the playoffs begin. Edwards still only has one win this year, but his problems really didn’t begin until a few months ago when he started to lose what was once a massive lead in the points chase. Now, he’s in fourth place, and though he isn’t in any danger whatsoever of missing the postseason, he really would love to get some ‘mo going again.

List Of Past Irwin Tools Night Race Champions (Since 2000)
2010 Irwin Tools Night Race Winner: Kyle Busch
2009 Irwin Tools Night Race Winner: Kyle Busch
2008 Irwin Tools Night Race Winner: Carl Edwards
2007 Irwin Tools Night Race Winner: Carl Edwards
2006 Irwin Tools Night Race Winner: Matt Kenseth
2005 Irwin Tools Night Race Winner: Matt Kenseth
2004 Irwin Tools Night Race Winner: Dale Earnhardt, Jr.
2003 Irwin Tools Night Race Winner: Kurt Busch
2002 Irwin Tools Night Race Winner: Jeff Gordon
2001 Irwin Tools Night Race Winner: Tony Stewart
2000 Irwin Tools Night Race Winner: Rusty Wallace

There aren’t many races that Chevrolets have performed poorly in, and the last time a Chevy found its way to the winner’s circle here at Bristol in the night race, it was Dale Earnhardt Jr. (Irwin Tools Night Race Lines: 33 to 1 at 5Dimes Sportsbook) that was getting the job done. It’s clear that Little E isn’t a driver who is winning all that much… if at all anymore… but this is a nice spot for him if he wants to notch his spot in NASCAR’s version of the postseason. Falling out of the Top 10 will knock him out of the Chase for the Sprint Cup, but a win in any of these last few races would almost certainly ensure his safety. Don’t be surprised if Earnhardt Jr. is in the thick of things at the end of this one.

Defending Pure Michigan 400 Champion: Kevin Harvick

Michigan International Speedway definitely brings out the best that a number of drivers have. It’s no wonder why Denny Hamlin (Current Pure Michigan 400 Odds: 8.50 to 1 at 5Dimes Sportsbook) is licking his chops about returning to this track. He won at the Heluva Good! Sour Cream Dips 400 just eight weeks ago, marking his fourth Top 3 finish in his last five tries at this track. Hamlin has a history of just dominating a few tracks in his history, and this is no exception. Here and Martinsville are where he really tends to just take advantage of the rest of this field. Many think that he is going to be the last driver in the Chase for the Sprint Cup, and it’s pretty clear that just one more victory is going to get the job done for him this year.

List Of Past Pure Michigan 400 Champions (Since 2000)
2010 Pure Michigan 400 Winner: Kevin Harvick
2009 Pure Michigan 400 Winner: Brian Vickers
2008 Pure Michigan 400 Winner: Carl Edwards

2002 Pure Michigan 400 Winner: Dale Jarrett
2001 Pure Michigan 400 Winner: Sterling Marlin
2000 Pure Michigan 400 Winner: Rusty Wallace

Keep a very close eye on the co-leader of the Sprint Cup standing as well, Carl Edwards (Pure Michigan 400 Lines: 7.50 to 1 at 5Dimes Sportsbook). Sure, we know that Edwards hasn’t won a race (All-Star Race excluded) since way back in March, but if you look at his history on this track, you know that he is definitely going to be a star to watch. Edwards has finished in the Top 10 at Michigan International Speedway 12 times in his 14 career races, and he has a pair of ‘W’s to boot. Roush Racing has a ton of great results on this track, and Edwards, as the captain of the ship for Jack Roush, knows that he has the best chance of making it to the Winner’s Circle on Sunday of this bunch.

If you want to go off of the board just a bit to find a winner for this race, what about Brad Keselowski (Odds to Win the Pure Michigan 400: 30 to 1 at JustBet Sportsbook)? Many thought that Keselowski was going to be the rabbit in the Chase for the Sprint Cup, but last week, he nearly snared his third victory of the season at the Heluva Good! Sour Cream Dips at The Glen, finishing in second place. There are a lot of drivers that are rooting like heck for Keselowski to get into the Top 10 so he’s not a factor for a Wild Card, but he has quite the ways to go to get that far. Don’t be shocked if he makes out well again this week in Brooklyn, MI, and he could factor into the equation down the stretch.

Races at the Poconos are never all that fun to try to handicap. We have to get started with the active driver that has the most wins in this race, Kurt Busch (Current Good Sam RV Insurance 500 Odds: 10.50 to 1 at 5Dimes Sportsbook). Busch won this race in 2005 and 2007, and he has a win already this year at the Toyota Save Mart 350. The only thing that scares us over Busch is the fact that he hasn’t run well of late, finishing no better than in his last four races in spite of the fact that he has started in the Top 5 three times.

2001 Good Sam RV Insurance 500 Winner: Bobby Labonte
2000 Good Sam RV Insurance 500 Winner: Rusty Wallace

The other driver that has won this event twice in his career coming into this one is the favorite, Denny Hamlin (Good Sam RV Insurance 500 Lines: 4.25 to 1 at 5Dimes Sportsbook). Hamlin is really in some trouble right now, knowing that he legitimately could miss the Chase for the Championship. He’s at the cut line right now, but would be a Wild Card entry in 11th place thanks to his one win. A second win would virtually guarantee that he ends up making the Chase one way or the other as long as he doesn’t slip down beyond 20th. Hamlin was the winner at the Poconos in 2009 and 2006, and if there is a driver that has the perfect mix of a need for this win and a great history on this track, this is it.

This could also be a race in which Carl Edwards (Odds to Win the Good Sam RV Insurance 500: 10.50 to 1 at 5Dimes Sportsbook) could be celebrating for a lot more than one reason. Edwards resigned with Roush Racing this week, keeping him in the No. 99 Ford for quite some time. What better way to celebrate that signing than to win in the Poconos? Edwards doesn’t really have to worry about missing out on the Chase, as he has a 95 point cushion, but one more win will just about mathematically ensure his safety for the playoffs. Bonus points are crucial for the NASCAR playoffs, something that won’t be taken lightly. You can bet that the No. 99, which won this race in 2008, will be rocking and ready to go come Sunday afternoon.

Road races often times give some very, very strange results in NASCAR betting action, and it wouldn’t get any stranger if the man who is the favorite to win this race, Marcos Ambrose (Current Heluva Good! Sour Cream Dips at the Glen Odds: 4.75 to 1 at 5Dimes Sportsbook) took the checkered flag. Ambrose sits in just 23rd place in the Chase for the Championship, needing to make up 19 points just to get into the Top 20 to qualify for a Wild Card spot in NASCAR’s postseason, and he has never won a race before in his career. So why is Ambrose the favorite in this one? He has three career races here at Watkins Glen. He finished in the Top 5 in all three and very well could have ended up winning all three as well.

List Of Past Heluva Good! Sour Cream Dips at the Glen Champions (Since 2000)
2010 Heluva Good! Sour Cream Dips at the Glen Winner: Juan Pablo Montoya
2009 Heluva Good! Sour Cream Dips at the Glen Winner: Tony Stewart
2008 Heluva Good! Sour Cream Dips at the Glen Winner: Kyle Busch
2007 Heluva Good! Sour Cream Dips at the Glen Winner: Tony Stewart
2006 Heluva Good! Sour Cream Dips at the Glen Winner: Kevin Harvick
2005 Heluva Good! Sour Cream Dips at the Glen Winner: Tony Stewart
2004 Heluva Good! Sour Cream Dips at the Glen Winner: Tony Stewart
2003 Heluva Good! Sour Cream Dips at the Glen Winner: Robby Gordon
2002 Heluva Good! Sour Cream Dips at the Glen Winner: Tony Stewart
2001 Heluva Good! Sour Cream Dips at the Glen Winner: Jeff Gordon
2000 Heluva Good! Sour Cream Dips at the Glen Winner: Steve Park

Want a good case as to why Ambrose should be the overwhelming favorite in this one? Another man who switched over from the INDY cars to NASCAR, Juan Pablo Montoya (Heluva Good! Sour Cream Dips at the Glen Lines: 8.50 to 1 at 5Dimes Sportsbook) won this race last year. It remains the only race of Montoya’s Sprint Cup career in which he took the checkered flag, but don’t think for one moment that he can’t do it again. Montoya, also outside the Top 20 in 21st place, needs to win a race somewhere along the way at the end of the regular season to have a shot of getting into the playoffs as a Wild Card. He is one of the rare drivers that has run the full season that doesn’t have a DNF, and that sort of consistency can really pay off at a track like this one with so many twists and turns.

However, the man of the hour in this one very well could be another man with his postseason hopes fleeting, Tony Stewart (Odds to Win the Heluva Good! Sour Cream Dips at the Glen: 6.50 to 1 at 5Dimes Sportsbook). We love the price here on the No. 14 Mobil 1 machine, especially knowing just how well Stewart has run on this road course in his career. The edgy driver has five wins in the last eight years on this track, and he has an average finishing position of 5.4. On road courses, Stewart has seven wins, 11 Top 5s, and 18 Top 10s in 25 runs. Especially knowing that he is in ninth place in the Chase for the Sprint Cup and that he doesn’t have a win under his belt yet this year to get him into the playoffs should he not finish in the Top 10, we know that Stewart is going to be gunning hard to take that checkered flag.

NASCAR betting fans: We’re back with another fantastic race this weekend at Indianapolis Motor Speedway, as 43 of the best drivers in the world look to make for great Brickyard 400 picks!

2011 Brickyard 400 Odds, Picks & Info
2011 Brickyard 400 Date: Sunday, July 31st, 2011
2011 Brickyard 400 Green Flag Time: 1:19 ET
2011 Brickyard 400 Location: Indianapolis Motor Speedway, Indianapolis, IN
2011 Brickyard 400 Favorite: Jimmie Johnson (+625)
Defending Brickyard 400 Champion: Jamie McMurray
2011 Brickyard 400 TV Coverage – Network: ESPN

Over the course of the last five years, this has been the time of year that Jimmie Johnson (Current Brickyard 400 Odds: 6.25 to 1 at 5Dimes Sportsbook) has really started to get going on his march towards the Sprint Cup Championship. Of the drivers that are going to be in this field, there are only a few that have made it to Victory Lane here, and only Jeff Gordon have won the Brickyard 400 more times than Johnson has. The No. 48 has already won this race three times. The problem with Johnson is that he has been either hit or miss at the Brickyard, winning three times in nine races but only posting one Top 10 finish in his other six runs.

List Of Past Brickyard 400 Champions (Since 2000)
2010 Brickyard 400 Winner: Jamie McMurray
2009 Brickyard 400 Winner: Jimmie Johnson
2008 Brickyard 400 Winner: Jimmie Johnson
2007 Brickyard 400 Winner: Tony Stewart
2006 Brickyard 400 Winner: Jimmie Johnson
2005 Brickyard 400 Winner: Tony Stewart
2004 Brickyard 400 Winner: Jeff Gordon
2003 Brickyard 400 Winner: Kevin Harvick
2002 Brickyard 400 Winner: Bill Elliott
2001 Brickyard 400 Winner: Jeff Gordon
2000 Brickyard 400 Winner: Bobby Labonte

Kevin Harvick (Brickyard 400 Lines: 12 to 1 at 5Dimes Sportsbook) is one of these drivers that has won a race at the Brickyard in his victory in 2003. We’re tending to get a better price right now on Harvick because he hasn’t run that well of late, but we think that he can turn things around. Harvick finished 21st two weeks ago at the Lenox Industrial Tools 301, and the week off probably did him some good. What we can’t forget about Harvick is that he already has three wins this year, and he does have a great history here at Indy, averaging a Top 10 finish, two things that hardly any driver can say. No one else in the field can say both items. Definitely a great price on the NASCAR betting lines this week.

This is going to be the second time in the last month or so that we are going to back Joey Logano (Odds to Win the Brickyard 400: 35 to 1 at 5Dimes Sportsbook). Logano makes for a very, very interesting set of NASCAR picks this week, as he is running significantly better now than he was at the start of the year. Logano is getting back in the race for the Chase for the Championship, and his second career victory will make all the difference as we wind down towards NASCAR’s version of the playoffs. He only has two runs here at the Brickyard, one of which ended in a Top 10 finish, but the good news is that the No. 20 Home Depot machine that he is driving was brought to Victory Lane twice before by Tony Stewart.
